Re: Edey To Miss Early Part of Season
It should have been a very important offseason for him development-wise. But it’s life. What we can do. I believe our FO has now no choice but to resign Bagley.

We needed to add a quality big to the roster before this development, but it's even more important now.

This is definitely a priority now as Zach will be out for a while. The question is who will be that center to go after.

Sharpe or Koret for part of the room exception. Paul reed for cheap.

Feels like typical Grizz luck lol. Someone mentioned on X they weren't opposed to trading for Walker Kessler now and then flipping him at the deadline. A fun idea but we may take too much of a value loss if his return is meh at the deadline.

Dealing with Danny Ainge can come at a considerable cost. Too rich to deal with in the meantime. Personally, I rather sign a vet center to cover for Edey as he recovers and perhaps be the plug in since Edey will be missing training camp this fall. This way he builds up his second year with experience coming off the bench. It's possible to trade for a decent vet on a decent contract that won't effect the second apron if it gets to that point.

With a significant decision regarding the looming Jaren Jackson Jr. extension this offseason, Santi Aldama becomes the most critical piece of Memphis' offseason puzzle.
Aldama is a lengthy power forward who can stretch the floor, averaging 12.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in 65 regular-season games for the Grizzlies. In the playoffs, his numbers did not drop off, averaging 12.8 points and 6 rebounds per game in the first-round series against the Thunder.
"Grizzlies & other teams believe the Pistons could emerge as a possible threat to pursue restricted free agent Santi Aldama," Fischer wrote.
Aldama is a restricted free agent, which means that the Grizzlies can match any offer sheet he receives from another team if they extend him a qualifying offer.

A new report from ClutchPoints' Chris Dodson revealed that the Grizzlies could be targeting one of the Blazers' stars to improve their roster.
"Although it is understood that no deal is imminent, Deni Avdija (Portland Trail Blazers) has emerged as a trade target for the Grizzlies in multiple conversations with league sources," Dodson said.
He continued to say, "Sources tell ClutchPoints the Grizzlies are doing their due diligence on Avdija as the NBA Draft approaches. The highly competitive, Chauncey Billups and Scoot Henderson-led Trail Blazers are understood to be weighing whether to continue building around young talents like Avdija, Shaedon Sharpe, and Henderson or leverage their well-seasoned assets for future draft picks in a loaded 2026 class."

I'd be down with Deni.

The crazy thing here is that I considered the idea of Deni being a Grizzly at least a couple of seasons ago. If he didn't signed that Poison Pill Provision contract from the previous offseason, I think the Grizzlies could've consider him as a possibility. Although it's just rumors, if I'm the Blazers, I would would keep Deni unless there is a good deal that is great enough to make them consider trading away Deni. Let's say if a potential S&T deal involving Santi in this trade scenario involving Deni. Would it be enough of a starter along with a future pick?
