I think when all is said and done... MMiller (and Lowry and BC) will either be with the Cavs or Magic at the end of the day tomorrow.
I would love to see the following trade with the Cavs...
Miller/Cardinal/rights to MGasol
for
Pavlovic/Newble/Brown/Marshall/08 1st
Then this trade with the Bucks
Lowry
for
Charlie V

LOL. One thing to remember is that the NBA does have a MINIMUM SALARY! So MEM can only fally so far in salary reduction, so perhaps Raef expiring the following year and taking much better vvalue is a good thing.
LOL obviously there's a MINIMUM SALARY LOL, but why settle for delaying the benefits of a trade for a year and a half - assuming there are contracts on the table that expire this year? I'd rather spend those $$$ this offseason and allocate them to a productive free agent for 08-09, than allocate those $$$ to Raef's contract for 08-09. Apart from the chance at an additional lottery pick, I don't see the "much better value" in waiting an additional year to benefit from trading Miller.

That actually looks good for Memphis... would adding Gasol's rights be enough for Cle to take back Cardinal AND give up their draft pick? As a Cavs fan I would think twice but probably have to make the deal. Although I'm sure the consensus on the Cavs board would be against it, another option is Cleveland adding their 2010 pick to the deal and Lowry also going to the Cavs.

Two questions... Can Memphis actually sign a big FA this offseason???
Yes then do this trade:
Memphis sends
MMiller/Cardinal/Lowry
Memphis recvs
Najera/J.R.Smith/Garrity/Arroyo/ORL & DEN 08 1st
Denver sends
Nene/Najera/J.R.Smith/08 1st
Denver recvs
MMiller/Cardinal/Lowry
Orlando Sends
Garrity/Arroyo/ 08 1st
Orlando Recvs
Nene
Orlando gets another big to bolster there depth next year.
If Memphis thinks they can't sign a big time free agent... take a risk:
Memphis sends
MMiller/Cardinal/Lowry
Memphis recvs
Najera/J.R.Smith/Nene/DEN 08 1st
Denver sends
Nene/Najera/J.R.Smith/08 1st
Denver recvs
MMiller/Cardinal/Lowry
If Nene comes back... great, if he doesn't his salary will come off the books summer of '09 due to medical retirement.

How about J-Will & Cook for Lowry & Miller?
The trade gives the Grizz additional cap room and satisfied the owner desire to unload big contract. The Grizz dumped the $19m contract left to Millers contract and avoid the load at PG and reunite two Ohio back-court mate in Cook & Conley.

Wallace made it very clear that they are not trying to dump Miller like they did Gasol.

Obviously Miller and Lowry are being shopped and are looking for expirings and draft picks, why not pull off a 3-way between the Suns/Grizz/Clips?
Clips get: Miller/Tucker
Suns get: Ross/Cassell/Lowry
Grizz get: Pike/Marks/A. Williams/1st from Clips/Atl pick from Suns
Clippers get that major 3pt threat in Miller and a young guy who can play the 2/3 in Tucker
Grizzlies get what they want and that's expirings plus draft picks for their rebuild.
Suns get the final 'ship pieces in a defensive wing (to replace Marions defense), a veteran PG to back-up Nash and a young 1/2 in Lowry for the future.
