Allright, finally get a look at the new-look Suns - I'm sure they'll look like a championship team against us.

Same could be said for about 20 other teams in the league right now as well...

The Suns got slammed by 30pts on Sunday by Detroit. Look for them to take their frustration out on the Grizzlies for 20 plus points.

Good game guys. I can't believe MI would try switching the pick-and-roll with Diaw then double-team. He knows that got us to the WCF the season Amare was out.

This was one of those all-too-rare occasions when I get to watch a Grizzlies game on television in real time --- and what a great game they played!
Being short-handed, and going up against Nash and Shaq and Amare and Grant Hill et. al., it wasn't too amazing that the Suns took it in the end. But the Grizzlies played absolutely valiantly --- they made a real game of it, and an exciting one at that. Playing like that, they could have walked all over a number of other teams.
Rudy was really fantastic (biased as I admit I am) and it was thrilling to see him achieve his career high (and a game high) of 36 points in the last minute of the game --- also a nice block and a steal and a few boards. Great game for my man.
Hakeem had 11 rebounds, a block, 2 assists and 16 points, a double double --- he was everywhere. (I wish the announcers would stop calling him "Hack" --- it sounds so tacky and he is not a hack by any means. Hakeem is a great name unshortened.)
Mike Conley had a career high in assists --- 11 --- as well as 15 points and 2 steals, a double double and an impressive game for him.
And I was absolutely delighted to watch Juan Carlos, 3 boards, 5 assists, a steal, and he's a shooter, isn't he? --- 23 points. He is so intelligent out there, always seems to have a sense of where everyone is and what's coming down. I really like this guy.
Darko also had 15 points , so all the starters were in double figures.
I was really proud of this team tonight --- they played with heart and spirit, and several times they had the Suns on the run.
It was truly an uplifting game to watch.
Well done, Grizzlies!

^^ On Warrick's name. They call him Hak for Hakim. not Hakeem like Olajuwon although it would be great to have someone of his calibur playing for the Grizz.

From tonight's game, sounds like the Grizzlies hung around for as long as they could against the Suns until the last few minutes of the game. At least they went down fighting instead of giving up.

Thanks for the explanation, SD2042. I'm sure it sounds cool to those broadcasters. I still think, though, that the sound of "Hak" is graceless and has unfortunate connotations since it sounds as if you are saying "hack," and the sound of Hakim is much more pleasing, and has much better connotations in that it sounds like Hakeem. Does Hakim call himself Hak? That would excuse the broadcasters doing it, although I still don't care much for the sound of it myself. But if Shaq can go all these years as Shaq, of course Hakim can be Hak if he chooses to.
The team not only hung in there till then end last night, they absolutely excelled. On the NBA Daily show today, they showed that Rudy was second in the league last night in scoring, and Mike Conley was third in the league last night in assists.

^^ I can't say if Hakim does mind being called Hak. So far it doesn't appear to be the case. If he does, he hasn't announced it to the public that he would rather be called something else. As for Rudy and Mike being mention in the column for the game night accomplishments. It was cool they got mention, but unfortunately they still have a long way to go. Not just as bball players, but the team overall need neccesary upgrades to become a better team for the future.

I didn't mean to imply that the team does not need to get better.
And of course, I haven't been following it for that long, and you have, so you certainly know a lot more about it than I do.
I just thought they did really well in the Suns game, and was glad to see them get credit on the NBA Daily.
