Draft question From Heat fan.

Post#1 » by GameTime_3 » Sun Mar 30, 2008 7:57 pm

Hey guys,

i got a question for you guys. IF miami gets 1st and Memphis gets 2 pick, Would you guys Trade Mike miller-2 overall for 1st overall and mark blount.

I know you guys want to move mike miller and that conley is your pg of the future,so would you guys do that trade to get Beasley?

Really don't know. IF that happens, it'll be a really interesting game of chicken. Riley's lust after Rose is well known, so we'll have to wait and see I guess. I hope the Grizz just end up with the first pick and this option doesn't play itself out.

Message to Heat fans, don't get too wrapped up with having the first pick - you're far more likely to end up the boat that the Grizz did last season and end up with the 3rd or 4th...

I know but i was just curious. IT seems like a logical trade for both teams. We want rose and you guys want beasley.

So do you guys think its fair?

1st pick-blount for 2nd pick-Mike miller

No, it's not fair at all. Honestly, it's nothing but a screw job. While it makes sense for the Grizz, it's still incredibly distasteful. It'd be more akin to blackmail that we may have to pay as opposed to a "good deal for both teams".

what about this scenario assuming Miami gets #1 memphis gets #4pick

Mike Miller
Juan Carlos Navarro
Brooke Lopez

for

Blount
Beasley
2nd round pick
next years pick unprotected

Riley gets the point guard he wanted before the season in Navarro, his sharp-shooting wing player and a nba ready big man.

memphis gets Beasley and pretty much 2 1st round draft picks since early 2nd round picks are more valueable than late first round picks anyways(if the 2nd round picks suck you can just waive them, you don't have to give them guaranteed money. Remember Troy Bell?)

#1 - The Grizz don't have a second round pick this season, you'll have to talk to Seattle about that pick.

#3 - JCN is NOT a point guard. He can handle the ball some, sure - but understand that he's an undersized 2 and not point.

#3 - No thanks to anything with an "unprotected pick" associated with it. Even with Beasley, at the cost of Miller, the Grizz will be lottery bound again next season most likely.

Sorry, no deal here.

Doh - dumb me. Sorry. Uh - yeah, but honestly Miami's probably giving up too much - for some of the reasons I mentioned. LOL @ me...

1. Miami needs a center because you can't win a championship with perimeter play(Kidd/Carter/Jefferson) you have to have balance.

2. Miami made a mistake by trading Kopono and Riley has admitted that, so they need a great shooting swingman.

3. Miami needs a point guard that can shoot.

Also everywhere Pat Riley has went he has always tried to build a franchise with a center and Lopez is by far the best center in the draft. And Navarro was a PG in spain and a pure PG isnt necessary when you have Dwade. Mike Miller can also bring the ball up the court and he along with Navarro are lights out shooters.

This trade would fill all of Miami's needs in one draft. I think you might be right about Miami giving up too much because the difference in talent from Beasley/Rose to Brooke Lopez is like Deron williams/Chris Bosh to Andrew Bogut so I guess a more even trade would just be

Lopez/Mike Miller/Navarro for Beasley/Blount/filler

You'd probably have to hope that MIN didn't get the third pick too, because I could see them taking Lopez to pair with Al Jefferson.

Chad Ford too, fwiw. Here's his lottery simulator:

I'm at a point now, I would rather see the Grizz (in this scenario) keep the pick and take Rose, then trade Conley and MMiller for another pick to try to pick up Love. Then package Lakers' pick and Lowry to move up enough to take a flyer with CDR.

I would like to see...

Rose/Critt
JCN/CDR
Gay/
Love/Warrick
Darko/

If the Grizz could walk away from this draft with Rose and Love, that would be AWESOME!!!

This is made with 8players an im not sure who is CDR. anyway, i like that idea. resing JCN for...."as less as we can" and the save money for free agents...in fact, get biedrins and bench darko.
