Real rumor, I guess that's a little bit of a play on words.

Brian Wheeler, a Portland media member reports:

Memphis proposed a deal asking for Travis and #13 for Mike Miller. The Blazers declined. Filler would have had to be included.

I do not have a link because he discussed it on a radio program. Here is a link to the thread discussing it on the Blazers board.

It may be a reach but I guess we can take a few things from the proposed trade if it is true. (Don't expect confirmation from Wallace)

First this is the right idea in attempting to move Miller as you need to upgrade the wing position and 9 million a year for your backup shooting guard not named Manu or outside New York City is too much.

Secondly, so much for Miller's inclusion in a deal to Miami for Beasley?

Lastly, the shooting guard spot belongs to Mayo or will be solved via free agency, judging from the mindset of dealing your starting shooting guard.
Nicholas Batum of France would be a nice pickup at #13 and could possibly start as his defense has lock down potential.

This would have been an excellent move by Wallace, but not enough to make us forget he is on the business end of the worst trade in NBA history. I guess signing Pau-lite has more importance the further the Lakers advance.

And I'm confused at the term "real rumor". It's either a rumor or not. Not meant to be a jab against the OP.

In the OP's defense, it was posted as a news piece/rumor, which IMO has more substance than "this dude said"...

However, BG is wholly correct that Chris Wallace (the Grizz's GM) flat out denied the rumor. Up to this point Wallace has been very open about his dealings and has "no commented" when he hasn't wanted to discuss something. He also qualified today that he doesn't discuss trades, but he had no problem with addressing and flat out denying that rumor.

While Outlaw is seemingly up-and-coming, I think that this is not enough value for Mike Miller. Certainly, there is the possibility that we could receive someone with similar talent to Miller at 13. But, this is not a given. I would rather trade him for a sure-shot to provide some foundation for this organization.

After the "value" you guys got back for giving the title to the Lakers I don't think any of you should complain about getting a kid that can actually play and a lottery pick. Portland was smart to decline this

Portland declined nothing. There was no offer. It was a rumor that was shot down.

Obviously, it is just a he said, she said, and depends on who you want to believe, but have GMs ever come out and said yeah, I offered Miller for Outlaw and 13, but they turned me down. ?? Not too often GMs talk about deals they offered that were not accepted.

You're correct, we'll never know. However, no matter of what I think of Wallace's GMing ability, he has been very forthright about his dealings. If he doesn't want to comment, he will politely "no comment". Otherwise he's VERY candid and open. I know nothing about the blogger that posted the offer. I do have a feeling for what Wallace does and says and in this case I very much believe him.

I don't know a thing about the person who posted it either, but I did listen to the radio show when the Trailblazers play by play man said it.

He talked about Travis working out this off season, and that the Memphis Grizzlies offered that deal. Then he talked about Rudy Fernandez and so on.
