And not too kind to many. From those who felt we'd be a contender to those who said the Hawks and Hornets (among others) had worse collections of talent than the Grizzlies...some ugly stuff in the back pages.

wow.
I'll unabashedly admit that I had the Grizzlies somewhere in the low 30's.
My activities of the 80's were not kind to my thought processes

At least the Grizzlies made the move this year that needed to be made long ago.
It was enough to put some ppl on "Cloud Nine"

Yep, a lot of factors came to put us as the worst nba team. Anyway, i think we had a talent alike NOH or Hawks, but it is not possible with that owner, GM and the coaches we had. The year we were really close to stay in the top was the one in wich Hubbie used to play with two squads. U remember? The years in wich we focused in Defense were the best. We were at the level in D of Pistons and Spurs. but no matter if he were the Coach of the year, hehe, but the thing is i felt other coach cud have done much better playing different. It was the beggining of the end.
(Not to mention the bad picks we took in drafts, the bad contracts we have taken in free agents and the trades...)
Since 2000. I have just seen three great players coming from the draft, Gasol, Battier and Gay.
What else we cud say we have done well?
Tsakalidis? hahaha

oh, I don't think there's one Grizz fan who would say the trade itself put him/her on cloud nine.
I wonder how Jerry W. would have executed the trade...I cannot imagine it would have come out much better...as time passed the likelihood of getting something reasonable for him decreased, one might even say exponentially.
And that double-clutch against Dallas didn't help him or the Grizzlies.
God that was horrible.
