Battier, Lowry, and Conley are the only players that the Grizz have actually drafted that were worth putting on the court. All of the other players have been acquired through trades or FA. DD brings up a good point there are very few teams in which part of the core (3 best players) were not acquired through FA or trades. San Antonio is the only good team that I can think of right now.

He did not bring up trades. We were discussing free agency vs. draft. How about Pau?

First: this new layout blows. it seriously sucks ass. definitely will reduce my visiting this site, not that i frequent it that often. yes, i'm sure some will be happy to hear that.
Second: so when i said this just a few posts above, "'i've said the way to build a team is through free agency and trades, and not with the draft", that didn't count as mentioning trades?
Third: what about Pau? or Battier for that matter? at the time, the Grizzlies move to Memphis hadn't been approved. there was no Memphis Grizzlies draft that year. when Jerry got here, he improved the team through trades and free agency. This is an undeniable fact, whether you like it or not. Trades for Person and Miller and Wells. Signings of Watson, Posey, Outlaw. Drafts of...Burks? Jones? Bell? Archibald?
Yeah. Good one.

Regardless of what you said, maybe you should read my post and see what I was debating you on. Obviously trades are a major way of acquiring talent. That is the predominant method. But, we are not dabbling in complete unknown territories here. At least I have been debating free agency vs the draft. Maybe you are not picking up on my points?

Yeah. Good one.
And look where it got us. A playoff team that cannot win a playoff game. So much for winning a playoff game without a superstar.

Re: Vindication
for how good pau is on offense....
he displayed all things that got him booed in memphis....
silly turnovers...
holding the ball too long and letting the defense get set...
being scared of double teams...
laying on the ground while his man dunks it....
silly, really weak, turnovers....
and generally just looking like a scared lost puppy.....
tonight was great......

Couldn't have put it any better....
It's not even that he doesn't play with a mean streak, which is bothersome enough. It's his attitude after the games blaming everyone else. As the star of the Grizz, he should have firmly placed all the burden for their playoff losses on himself.

oh...are they, by chance, saying that they just need to get Bynum back to get a bruiser next to him to take the heat off Paula on the defensive end??????
And..I'm acutely aware that Bynum is more talented than any big man we've ever had playing for the Grizzlies...

You summed it up best. Getting beat by 40pts on the NBA Finals stage has to be an embarrassing experience imaginable. If you're the Celtics, you're mad crazy with joy as they brought home banner #17 to Boston. It was a well deserved championship win for the Celts. Congrats to them.

They are saying the EXACT same things the Pau apologists have said every year he was in Memphis. Most notably, that the's playing out of position.hptmatthew wrote:oh...are they, by chance, saying that they just need to get Bynum back to get a bruiser next to him to take the heat off Paula on the defensive end??????

Re: Vindication
I do not think that they will be able to utilize both Pau and Bynum as well in the Triangle.....one has to be the go-to. I guess they could switch it up and Bynum could role with the four.....
I cannot see either or those two in the high post.....
