His game is similar to Pau's.

To the last statement:
I would not say that. He is much more burly and far less of a finesse big man than Pau.

Believe me, i have seen both play and Gasol is head and shoulders better then Darko.
Gasol is as good as Darko thinks he is and better.
If Scola who was a weaker rebounder in Europe then Gasol can avrage around 7 rebounds a game and almost 10 when he got minutes, then believe me Marc as a starter can avrage around 10 rebounds as well.
If he will be a starter for you guys a predict a 14/9 from him.

I wouldn't go so far to say that he is on the level of Scola, who produced for so many years at such a high level. Marc seems to be peaking currently, but I would not put him in the same realm as Scola.

In my opinion, the signing of Marc Gasol is HUGE! As Chris Wallace pointed out when he agreed to trade Pau, MGasol would be a lottery pick THIS year. Now, he could still be a bust, but he is every bit as good (I think he will be better) as Brook Lopez, who is considered by many draft "experts" to be the top center prospect in this year's draft! So, now the Grizzlies can look to draft a power forward with their fifth pick (or look to move it for some other assets). At 19 years old, I think the Grizzlies would be foolish to pass on Kevin Love. The guy would be a great ambassador for the city of Memphis, akin to Shane Battier. He is the "energy" guy that everyone on the floor feeds off of! So, if the Grizzlies just stand pat (which I don't expect them to do), they have a very nice, young line-up to build around!

Conley Jr./Lowery/Critt
Miller/Gay/Critt
Gay/Miller
Love/Warrick
Gasol/Milicic

Plus, we have the No. 28 pick, and will have a ton of money in 2009 IF we sit on our FA money this year...which we should! I like the prospects of this nucleus! Go Grizzlies!

I've been asking myself lately who should be the go-to player in the low post for this summer in the Spanish National Team, and Marc Gasol comes as the natural answer over Pau (I'm not joking around). I've asked several other people, and most of them think the same.

On the other hand, it remains to be seen how well he will adapt to the athletic NBA given his realitvely lack of athleticism. Still, it's a great signing for the Grizzlies, and it would be really funny if the brothers' trade turned out really successful for Memphis after all the hate you guys have received from the media.

By the way, some of you mention Pietrus... no way. The guy is not a good basketball player, just a physical-athletic freak. You need more brains in the backcourt.

i was talking about their rebounding numbers only, all in all Scola is still the better player, but Marc has really prooven that you really can't predict how good he will be, only 2 years ago, i predicted he would suck for the rest of his career and look how wrong i was lol.

Thanks for the encouragement of Marc and the discouragement of Pietrus. I didn't know what his BBIQ was like.

I am now betting that the Grizz will be waiting on next year's draft to address the SG position and to see how Critt can perform there given minutes. Or all my theories could be shot to hell as of Thursday night when the Grizz go trade crazy.
