Marc G's a Grizz - 3 years $10 million

The Grizzlies made a bold trade on draft night to acquire O.J. Mayo. Now they might have added another "lottery" pick.

Marc Gasol, the younger brother of Lakers center Pau Gasol, has agreed to a three-year deal worth $10 million, according to a league source. The contract has yet to be signed, but was said to be near completion.

Hopefully the source will be legit within a couple of days. Get this deal done and let's see what Gasol 2.0 can do on the court.

MVP of one of the better Euro leagues.

Legit 5 with skills.

Would have been a lottery pick this year.

Need any more reasons?

2nd rd picks either make the league minimum if your team is over the cap or any amt that your team can pay under the cap.

And the number 1 reason is that he wouldn't have much incentive to make the jump to the NBA unless we offered him competitive pay to Europe.

It would be great if they structured his contract:

$5mil - '08
$2mil - '09
$3mil - '10

This would help allow for more capspace next summer.

But I have a feeling that it is $3m, $3.75m, $4.25m

The Grizzlies wouldn't had been able to sign Marc with a smaller offer. Even with this contract he's leaving significant money on the table. He was projected to make around 2.5 million euros net per year in Europe, wich means over $5 million on a yearly basis.

That's what i believe , all we can do is hope and see what Paul Gasol can do on the court. :) . (Personally), I don't think he's a good player but i may change my mind on what he shows on the court. :(

I dont believe that $5 million is enough, so i might believe $10million is enough for Marc 8-) .

I thought this was funny: even Mother Gasol knows that Pau was a wussy in the paint, and Marc plays a more physical game than his older brother.

"We're counting on him to be a presence in the post," Iavaroni said. "He'll have to battle inside."

If the younger Gasol's demeanor is anything like his mother's, then the difference will be patently evident. Soon after the question-and-answer session began, a reporter asked Marc if his game was like Pau's.

The moment was one of the few times Marisa Gasol stopped capturing the moment on film.

"No," she said with a fiery tone. "No."
