When I saw this on the news, I didn't know exactly what I would say. (seeing as I know very little about Lionel Hollins) However, I did feel that the firing midseason was necessary and a direct extension of what NBA teams have been doing all the time. There is very little job security in this league. With that said, I am normally in support of keeping a coach until the end of the season. For example, the Sixers' run last year occurred because players finally gelled late into the year. However, this does not seem to be happening for the Grizzlies. 15 out of 17 is pretty horrible by any standard.
I just hope that the incoming of Cheeks doesn't mean the exit of Miles.

Re: Breaking News: Marc Iavroni Fired
According to ESPN website Avery Johnson turned down a five year offer to coach the team. I hope that will put an end to the questions of Lionel Hollins hiring being a dollars and cents move. Just because a particular coach is out there doesn't mean he will think the Memphis job is a good fit or a great career move. Memphis is a tough sell for a lot of folks, and tabbing a guy who has chosen to live in Memphis (Hollins family still lives here) even after being let go with his basketball experience is not all bad. He wants to be in Memphis when others don't so lets give the guy a chance or at least be open minded. I am writing this here but no one has posted anything negative but Sports Radio has been hammering the move. I don't call in to sports shows so you guys have to put up with my rebuttal.
