OT- From toronto

Post#1 » by 416 » Fri Feb 20, 2009 2:03 am

hey griz fans, despite the raps being my team im a huge fan of your team as well

oj/gasol/rudy seems like a pretty sweet foundation to build on; and looking into the future, your team seems to have a lot of upside to it

anyways i dont know too much of your financial situation.. are you guys over the lux? if not are you aggressively looking for upgrades or giving time for your players to develop? are you guys thinking of jumping onto the 2010 FA bandwagon as well?

and as fans are you guys excited to see your team play or are you frustrated with the losses? I know in toronto, because we're "underachieving," we're a pretty pessimistic and bipolar group. We also don't have too much to look forward to because of our not-so-great prospects (we dont have any oj's or gasol type rookies). I imagine your team's outlook is very different than ours. We lose a game we're demanding to tank, while I feel you guys lose a game you say, 'hey at least so and so is getting better.'

lastly would you be willing to trade players like rudy/oj/gasol? if so for who if its with the raps? any of jose, andrea, bosh, marion seem appealing to you? Thanks for any feedback

The Grizz are currently rebuilding with a 3 year plan in mind. They're just over a year into it. Build through the draft, get as much cap space and draft picks as possible, then trade for/sign a big free agent(s) this summer and/or next. If things follow to course the Grizz will have enough cap space to max or near max two players.

Yeah, I can tell you're not familiar with our situation. The Grizzlies are the only team under the salary cap. The only concern the Grizzlies have about the luxury tax are the due date of the check they get. That said, GGF said it all.
