You can forget the "draft Rubio, trade for Thompson" (or another other top line PF) scenarios. If the Grizz draft Rubio, Conley's value tanks. It may well be a option they take anyway. If the Grizz FO believes in Rubio as some of you do, it's a price you pay. However, believing you get anything of value for Conley isn't going to happen. The Grizz would be trading from a weakened position.

If Rubio is drafted, be prepared to see Conley moved for pennies on the dollar and pray MH gives Wallace the go ahead to overpay for a four.

How does Conley's value plummet if Memphis drafts Rubio? That logic doesn't make sense.

Or trade Conley before you select the 2nd pick? Or maybe keep him for another season while Rubio develops....

If a team needs a pg, regardless of the Grizz's position, they will want to trade for Conley. (especially a Portland etc.)

I really don´t think that there´s the "bust-risk" in Ricky´s case. I mean, Sarunas Jasikevicius apart, what other well established european player who crossed the sea become a bust? Even Oberto made a good transition to the US. And Ricky is used to play with american players and is from the MTV generation, so there isn´t much to adapt.

This guy is for real!

(sorry the entusiasm, but I follow him since he was 15 yo)

Valid point. I guess I'm just resigned to the fact that the Grizz won't get the first pick, will be denied ONCE AGAIN from the player then desperately need and end up having to settle. I hope I'm wrong this time, but so far - meh...

I think Monroe is expected to return to G'town.

if the Grizz have #2 pick and they aren't drafting either Blake Griffin or Ricky Rubio than I would favor trading the pick as there is a huge drop off in this draft. Trading for Thompson would be overpaying with the pick. I don't believe the hype or everything that I read but based on his play againist the USA Olympic team this summer, Rubio would be one of the top five best guards in the NBA in less than three years. That would mean he is better than Derrick Rose, Baron Davis, Chauncey Billups, and Andre Miller who are not top five. He ran circles around an aging Jason Kidd and more than held his own againist Chris Paul and Deron Williams who are both top five. Have we ever been able to contemplate the thought let alone say this about Mike Conley?

From a kings fan, If we get #1 and you get #2 I would be in favor of that thompson and green for the #2. if we get griffin then thompsons expandable and the kings get their pg of the future. it also fills the grizz pf spot. works for both teams.

That trade would essentially be Thompson and Greene for Rubio, which would be moronic on the Grizzlies part. I really like Thompson, but he will be nothing more than a solid starter. Rubio has a chance to be special. And even if Memphis for some decided to trade Rubio, they could get a much better package for him than that.
