I have done the same topic in Lakers forum, and I would like to see both points of view.

No - for a couple of reasons.

Gasol is very inexpensive for the next two years. Bynum is about to enter max/near max land.

2 major knee injuries the past 2 seasons.

There is no doubt that Bynum is a great talent - but if there weren't a worry with the knees, well we wouldn't even be entertaining this conversation.

I agree that if Bynum didn't have the ongoing knee concerns my guess is that his name wouldn't even come up in a trade from the Lakers side.

But,I do believe that a healthy Andrew Bynum would be quite a player and that of all the young centers around he has the best upside. A healthy Bynum would be a bigtime impact player on the Grizzlies, no question. And as far as money goes, at least he is tied up for a long time.

I also think that getting a high quality power forward wouldn't be as deaperate a need. A solid journeyman like Ronny Turiaf or Udonis Haslem would suffice next to Bynum.

But man, those knees at his age have to factor into the equation no matter what. But then again if he does regain full health in them his value skyrockets beyond Marc Gasol and the #6 pick.

How scary would the Gasol brothers be together on that Laker team.

If Bynum gets injured against the Grizzlies imagine what would happen with the Grizzlies.

It would be like Bryant Reeves all over again. The knees version.

I'm a Lakers fan that follows the Grizzlies, and NO I would not do this if I were the Grizzlies.

Gasol is a bargain and doesn't have the knee concerns.
