Mem/ATL

Post#1 » by rak1974 » Sat May 30, 2009 1:22 am

I am a Hawks fan and would like some feed back from some Memphis fans...... Would a trade of Al Horford and ACE Law for the number two and Hakim Warrick be a good trade?

Scroll through the Official Trade Thread - it's pretty much devoted to the #2 pick.

I'd consider Horford and #19 for 2 and Laker 2010 1st.

Horford for Rubio works for me. As a matter of fact I think this is about the best Memphis can do. I would want the Hawks to also switch the #19 pick for the #27 in the process though.

not to sure about that I believe that if Horford were in this years draft he would go at least number two in this years draft. plus you already know what you are getting in the draft you are guessing.

Whats Horford's health status? He seems to be getting banged up alot this early in his career.

Replace Law with your pick and I would like it.

Grizzlies get:
Horford
#19

Hawks get:
Rubio
Warrick
Lakers 2010

Dave, I think Horford's issue is that he is being played out of position. He could go to PF with us, which would hopefully make things a little easier on him physically

Are you saying you would do law instead of 19 or am I reading this wrong?

Horford is getting somewhat banged up, but that is due to him playing the 5 instead of the 4 for us most of the time.

I believe BG is saying do the 19 instead of Law.

Awesome is correct and after discussions on the ATL board, I would do something like this.

Horford/#19 for Rubio/#27/Lakers' 2010.

And I figured it was Horford playing out of position that has been the issue.

I've yet to see a better offer come along for the #2 pick that fits what the Grizzlies need. And we've all seen some really wild trade offers. In my opinion this is the benchmark for any other proposed trades.

There´s any scenario where we can get Horford, the #19 and also the rights of Chris Andersen?

I would really like to hold on to 19th pick in this draft. I want us to get out pg, Lawson or Maynor I think one would still be there. I believe both would be gone by the 27th. because I want the hawks to draft Thabeet with the number 2. But if we did grab Rubio with the 2 overall I would still want the hawks to get BJ Mullens with the 19th.

With Varejao available in free agency...what sense would it make to trade the #2 pick for Al Horford.

Just sign Varejao and keep Rubio.

Memphis can and better get a better deal than Horford back.

You guys don't even have us dumping Jaric in half of these proposals. Think higher.

While it's true that Memphis could go after a free agent power forward and keep the pick, there's no guarantee of them getting the one that fits them best. If they can accomplish it by way of a trade then I say take the sure thing. I also believe that Horford is a better player than Varejao as well. But for sure more thinking outside the box is needed and maybe they should stick to the plan of signing a free agent power forward and exploring what kind of other players, plus picks they could get for the #2 pick that improves the team.

I'm not pigeonholing myself into one particular deal but in my opinion the Grizzlies won't do better than Horford for the #2 pick( I also would like to see a pointguard such as Devin Harris in a Grizzlies jersey). But like I've said before, there is an ocean of possibilities for a team that holds both the #2 pick plus has plenty of cap room for free agents. They also are in the right place at the right time as teams will be looking at reducing costs in this economy and on draft day will be more willing to give something up that they normaly wouldn't.

Will the Grizzlies take advantage of all these opportunities is the question that can only be answered with time.

Nah. It's called being realistic. And Horford >>>> Varejao.

Even a brazilian like me agree on this.

I wouldn´t mind replacing the #19 for Chris Andersen´s rights

Dunno if it works, but the best trade I can think is:

#2 + Jaric + Buckner´s expiring + Warrick for Al Horford + Chris Andersen (S & T) + filler (Speedy Claxton?)

ATL's not taking Jaric.... and if they do, you'd have to send a LOT more back in value.

Everytime I've posted on the ATL trade board it's been a bludgeoning of "we are in win now mode" don't need any rookie starters.

I'm not sure why they want to move Horford for a rookie if that's the case... unless they have a better idea to move #2 out for vets that can put them into Cle/Bos/Orl territory.

They are set at the 2 (JJ) and 4 (Josh), with solid options at the 3 (Marvin/and the possible return of Chill)... and with FA's at the 1 and 5, and no suitable backups to step in.
