I'd be highly suspect of any deal that includes both the 2nd and Conley at this point. The reason being that they would be passing on 2 due to belief that Conley is the answer at the point. Additionally, trading Lee is problematic due to the Grizz needing him resigned. Also, there's always the point of Memphis just straight out signing Lee to a front loaded deal that would make it difficult for New York to match.

While Knicks fans are quick to point out that the Knicks would just match or that Memphis wouldn't do that, take a quick look see at the offer that Memphis signed Josh Smith too. The Grizz could get creative as well - plenty of cap space to front load the first two years and make even less room for 2010 and all.

Anywho - I do not doubt for a second that the Knicks have a real interest in the 2 - the next week will be interesting as all get out for Grizz fans.

Definitely this trade won't be taking place for all the reasons mentioned. No team is going to draft someone for another team in the hope they can then sing one of their free agents. What happens if another team, such as OKC or Detroit jumps in and signs Lee? Are the Grizzlies and Knicks really going to draft a player they may not want and take a risk that David Lee just may agree to a sign and trade?

This is bad idea from the start.

GGF broke it down to a T. I like Lee a lot!, but I also like Conley. It wouldn't make sense to go get a another young PG, when we've waiting 2 years to see Mike Conley 2 get 2 where he is, and he's in no way reached his potential so why start over with a rookie? Ok trade idea, but not good enough. Denied!!!!!

Unfortunately, the Knicks are in a transition that does not bode well for them making a deal. They don't have anyone under contract that warrants obtaining the 2nd overall pick. The word on the street is when the subject was first broached they offered to purchase the pick for 3 million. While the Grizz organization at times do act like leprechauns on some lucky charms, they are not biting. Hence the transition period your team is in is biting you in the butt because if say David Lee was under contract then more than likely he along with the #8 could be the leader in the clubhouse to obtain the pick.

I don't think New York is going to match Lee if he gets $8M+ per year, so it may be best to just stay put.
