When you think about it a little bit it could make sense. Iverson, Mayo, Gay, and Randolph all can create their own shot and are good one on one players. No need for fancy plays as long as they are willing to set simple screens for each other rather than stand around watching and waiting for the ball. If Hollins can design some good spacing sets, with players spreading out the floor, moving to predetermined areas in recognizing what defenses are doing, then it could be an uncomplicated offence where teams can't concentrate on overplaying any one or two guys so isolations would indeed be one on ones. And just getting used to doing the simple drive, draw a second defender, and dishing off the pass shouldn't be hard to grasp. I think it could work.
Now as for the defensive end, well that's where Thabeet and Gasol come in. But if Hollins can get Mayo, Gay, and Randolph to buy into just a bit of hard work on defense then it could put them in a decent situation. I'll refer back to the Nuggets because that's kind of how I would envision the Grizzlies style wise if they did get Iverson. And as SD2042 said, putting some butts back in to the arena would be easier with that sort of wide open style.
My problem is that I've always liked the more rugged, defensive style like Boston plays from a strategic standpoint where the team all played tough. That's why I thought a Glen Davis and Rajon Rondo would be a good addition to Gasol. But it's Randolph and Thabeet and there's nothing I can do to change it.
