I agree with you on that; however, I think his interest arose from the fact that we are/were one of the few teams that could pay him what he thinks he's worth - 12 to 15+ mill. Now that the Zbo trade has cut our caproom below that figure (assuming neither team backs away before it's official), I wouldn't be surprised that he's no longer interested in playing for the Grizz. Honestly, if he's willing to play for 7 mill a season, why would he play for the Grizz and not a contender at that price? Unless none of the contenders are interested in him, I think his interest in the Grizz is all about the money.

Iverson would be a good fit in Memphis. He is still a hell of a player and having him and Conley at PG would be nice to see. Plus he would draw in crowds. He can only help really.

as a general fan of the nba, this would be awesome. had the league known, they may have even put the grizz on national tv a few times.

iverson didnt work in detroit, but i think he would fit a little better in memphis. you guys wouldnt win a title, but you would be a compelling team and maybe be a 6/7 seed.

of course, the headline "iverson interested in grizzlies" should actually say "iverson interested in grizzlies' money", but thats besides the point.
Ron Artest, whose self-titled CD hits stores this summer, told the New York Post that his New Year's resolution is to: "Teach math classes in elementary schools throughout the country. And, of course, I want to sell 10 million records."

When you think about it a little bit it could make sense. Iverson, Mayo, Gay, and Randolph all can create their own shot and are good one on one players. No need for fancy plays as long as they are willing to set simple screens for each other rather than stand around watching and waiting for the ball. If Hollins can design some good spacing sets, with players spreading out the floor, moving to predetermined areas in recognizing what defenses are doing, then it could be an uncomplicated offence where teams can't concentrate on overplaying any one or two guys so isolations would indeed be one on ones. And just getting used to doing the simple drive, draw a second defender, and dishing off the pass shouldn't be hard to grasp. I think it could work.

Now as for the defensive end, well that's where Thabeet and Gasol come in. But if Hollins can get Mayo, Gay, and Randolph to buy into just a bit of hard work on defense then it could put them in a decent situation. I'll refer back to the Nuggets because that's kind of how I would envision the Grizzlies style wise if they did get Iverson. And as SD2042 said, putting some butts back in to the arena would be easier with that sort of wide open style.

My problem is that I've always liked the more rugged, defensive style like Boston plays from a strategic standpoint where the team all played tough. That's why I thought a Glen Davis and Rajon Rondo would be a good addition to Gasol. But it's Randolph and Thabeet and there's nothing I can do to change it.

This seems like a good move financially in terms of selling tickets and merchandise, but for the long term health of this franchise I am not sure why you go down this road.

If you want to sell tickets it's good for you

If you hope to develop your players and learn how to play as a team look elsewhere

He is one heck of a player and can score like a mofo but he is "the cancer"

His style of play and his attitude is not one that leads to a team atmosphere

He refuses to accept that he wont be the main man on the team and he will bitch and whine and throw the locker room into turmoil - he is not the kind of guy you want around your young players

He is nearing the end of his career, but wont accept it, and he will have a major problem accepting anything less than major playing time

For all you who think its a good idea you are going to soon eat those words

just ask detroit and the nuggets
