Lot of words for a rookie to speak on in his first year. Hope his work will back up his words.

this is the NBA. there will always be someone bigger, tougher, or more skilled than you. you think Dwight howard, shaq, jefferson, duncan, or nowiziki are gonna be scared of him? he's a rookie, hasn't scored one point, grabbed one rebound or blocked one shot in the nba. ain't nobody gonna be scared of a rookie.

It's the right attitude, beefman. If he's playing aggressive and challenging shots, then he'll be useful. That's all that matters.

Re: Thabeet Says He'll Intimidate Opponents
I don't think it is so much that everyone in the NBA is going to be scared of him or that he'll dominate. I think it's that he will intimidate them from coming into the lane. He hasn't been extremely impressive in summer league/preseason, however, it has been evident that every time he's in the game the opposing team has altered their tactics due to him being in the paint. It seems like his lack of blocked shots is in part due to people not wanting to come in towards him. The problem with this strategy, however, is that he's putting himself in a position to pick up a lot of fouls, as he's also consistently done.
This has gotta be the kind of attitude you want to see from a guy who has often been accused of looking indifferent or not having enough fire.

It's the right attitude to have IMO. Also, the article makes a good point: at the moment, the Grizz only want him to do what he has been doing his whole (admittedly very short) basketball life - protect the rim on D. Anything that happens on the offensive end right now is gravy.

Being fromToronto beefman should know the importance of at least trying to be aggressive and intimidating. The Raptors were soft as marshmallows last season and looked disinterested at playing hard defense.
Coach Jay Triano, once he was signed as the permanent head coach said in his press conference to Brian Colangelo, his wish is to get some toughness and intimidation into the roster. Colangelo said he understood and went after Reggie Evans.
Whether or not Thabeet can back it up, it's a good sign he wants to play that way. I said it after the draft that with him, Gasol, and Haddadi, they should be able to not give an inch in the paint this season and draw hard fouls and make players think twice. They have 18 hard fouls to give out there.

by making this comment, ppl are gonna point him out and make it a point to go at him, challenge him. being a rookie, the whistle won't go his way and would end up with foul trouble.

I agree that he'll end up in foul trouble, but with Gasol starting, most likely for the season, if Thabeet can come in and change the other team's offense for 15 minutes a night and pick up 6 fouls in the process then even that lowly expectation could be quite useful.

That it could. Right now Thabeet just needs to focus on getting his feet wet as a new NBA player. I applaud his expectations to bring attitude and confidence to his game to help as the season will progress. Just focus on becoming a defensive force and find himself to how he can be effective in the game. His offense will come as he has some ways to go to be better in that department.

Thabeet may get between 10-15 mins a game loflin.
As for why Thabeet didn't play in the last game. I don't have the answer to that.
