Memphis Fan Advice Needed Please

Post#1 » by Jammer » Sat Dec 5, 2009 11:00 pm

Hi. Celtic Fan here.

I've devised a 3 way trade to get a player to Boston that I think that the Celtics want,
but to do so I've got Memphis trading Rudy Gay to a third team.

The only way Memphis would do this is if Memphis does not plan on matching
Minnesota's rumored 5 year $50 to $55 million contract next summer.
There have been whispers that Gay is Minnesota's top priority,
and that they will offer Gay $10 Million per, maybe even $11 million per,
and they might front load it to discourage Memphis from matching.

If Memphis doesn't plan to match, then they might trade Gay for something.

So, if Memphis doesn't want to pay Gay the numbers that Minnesota is rumored to be willing to, here's the trade: RealGM Trade ID #5306506

Memphis sends Rudy Gay to Minnesota

Minnesota sends Corey Brewer (2007 #7 pick) to Memphis and
Minnesota sends Utah's 2010 First Round Pick to Memphis (probably will be like #17 pick) and
Minnesota sends Ryan Gomes to Boston

Celtics send Lester Hudson (2009 #58 pick) to Memphis
Celtics send J.R. Giddens and Tony Allen to Minnesota

Memphis gets local boys Corey Brewer and Lester Hudson,
as well as Utah's 2010 First Round Pick

Any chance that you guys would do this?
Or is Memphis willing to go up to $11 million per year, Starting Next Year, for Rudy Gay?

The incentive for Minnesota is that Gay is a Restricted Free Agent, and they will probably get him for the price that that want to pay anyway. Plus, Minnesota gets to test drive the
expiring contracts of Tony Allen and J. R. Giddens, giving them a SG with excellent defensive skills
(Tony Allen) plus a SG/SF in Giddens.

Say Minnesota offered $5 years for $55 Million like below:

2011 $13 Million
2012 $12 Million
2013 $11 Million
2014 $10 Million
2015 $ 9 Million

Go away, please. Discussing moving Rudy now is just damned distasteful. Seriously. The Grizz front office and Rudy may part ways, but until then, please stop with this stuff. Oh - and there's a trade sticky for this garbage up top.

:reporter: this is not the place, not the time. Once gay says he wants to leave we might start talking. till then, lets enjoy the grizz's streak. 7-4 in the last 11 games. isnt it wonderfull?

I bet that Gay will hang around with us for a couple more years...

I don't anticipate Rudy leaving the Grizz next summer. If he does, it will have to be a S&T.

Also, we have a trade thread up now. Which means the next trade thread boogie or myself see that's not in the link above will be on lockdown.

Appreciate your corporation.
