No, as a Grizz fan I don't like this trade. In fact, it sucks.

As much as a Bulls fan would like Mike Conley and a protected first for Derrick Rose.

I hope he gets his act together and hits 20 ppg average sometime this year. Thats what I expect of him. I thought he was the cornerstone but now its lookign like Rudy.

I traded Roy/Cousins/J. Nelson for Mayo/Griffin/Splitter because I like OJs game better than Roys. So pick it up for me homie!

I don't want us to get rid of O.J. I know he hasn't been doing too well lately but i still really like him, he still has high potential in him. I wish he could just become way more consistent as a scorer and more efficiant.

Sadly, I do not see this happening. I see OJ as a one-trick pony. And right now, he is still in the shooting slump.

He's never going to be an elite athlete and he really doesn't make everyone around him better.

just a general question, I do not get to see too much of mayo. how is he on the defensive end? (ie does he guard the other teams 2 guard or pg?, struggle against bigger or smaller guards etc.)

There are times where he gets flat out destroyed on defense. In the past he was off-setting that with his solid offense and decent effort on defense. But I can't think of many (if any) matchups he's won this year.
That said, I don't think he's really really bad on defense. But he's definitely not good. I've noticed his lack of length really hurts the Grizzlies perimeter defense and defensive rotation moreso than the slight issue OJ has guarding opposing shooting guards.
Combine all those factors with what appears to be a lack of effort, or focus, or confidence (take your pick) and he's really not helping the team much this season. I know that people think his minutes are a big part of the problem, but I'm starting to think it's deeper than that.
Honestly, his game reminds me a lot of Ben Gordon's, but I think the main difference is that Ben is better coming off screens and in catch and shoot in general. OJ's one-on-one isolation style would be better if he was "the man" (which is why I think Memphis moved him to the bench where he'd be playing with the second unit).
If OJ worked at shooting off screens and catch and shoot scenarios (a la Gordon, Allen etc.) he'd be a much better player. He's pretty decent off the bounce, but he's just too predictable in isolation and he's in a really bad shooting slump right now.

Omg, you say OJ lacks Perimeter D? ugh... that really sucks. I always thought we was a decent defender in his college days. But then again he was playing against college players.

I don't feel his perimeter defense is bad (although some Grizz fans think it is). I think it's just when you have a small back-court (Conley Mayo) and your defensive players are rotating to catch up with ball movement (when the offense swings the ball etc.), you wind up with some really terrible mismatches in terms of challenging perimeter shots, 1 on 1 defense and rebounding.
That's the only real advantage of playing Henry over OJ. In terms of 1 on 1 defense on shooting guards, OJ is...so-so. Not the worst, but definitely not good. Henry is a bit better in the sense that he's stronger, longer and bigger, but he fouls more.
I think it's kind of hard to assess OJ's game in general right now. Because he's either tanking or playing with some pretty low confidence.
He looked nice last game against the Clippers though, and I get the feeling things are going to start to pick up with him.

Would you say his Perimeter Defense is better then Kevin Martin's? Or the same? Kevin Martin had some pretty bad Defense.
