Whats up with Mike Conley?

Post#1 » by AboveTheRim726 » Sat Jan 15, 2011 10:29 pm

Sorry I dont get to see alot of Grizz games, but judging his stats... is it safe to say he's having a disappointing season?

I thought he was capable of being a 17/8 type PG.

Whats up with him?

I also havent been able to watch any games besides just one. And i thought the same thing about Conley, so im dissappointed by his stats. With Grevis Vasquez on the team, i believe Conley is likely to be traded, along with Mayo and maybe even Thabeet. Vasquez could be our Steve Nash.

Career highs in PPG, APG, Steals, and (almost) RPG - not sure that qualifies as a "disappointing season." If anything, I'm pleased that he's finally showing something; and at age 23, there's room for growth.

I haven't seen any games but i hope he's performing like a guy with a new contract should. I also wanted the Grizzlies to draft Grevis Vasquez and i was pumped up when they did. I think he will be a very special player. I really like Conley, but I believe Grevis will be much better.

He started the season out on fire, but he's cooled down quite a bit since then. He's still having the best year of his career, but I don't think we're ever going to get very far with him driving the car.

I hope he never attempts to justify the contract by scoring more, but with more assist and pushing the ball up the court. His new found aggressiveness on offense while being a matador on defense killed the team early. It is not his makeup to be that type of offensive player so let those who are accustomed to chucking it up shoot. Keeping Kyle Lowery, Tony Parker, and Russel Westbrook from career highs would also be a good place to start.

Conley has been shown by the FO that the team is built around him. He has been given the keys since Hollins came in for Iavaroni. You could say he's Hollin's golden boy whether he deserves it or not. He ain't going nowhere. Greivis future on this team is to be the perennial backup. There's no chance in hell he'd supplant Conley even if he had Allstar numbers and ability. They have done this many times by passing on Ricky Rubio, Tyreke Evans, Russell Westbrook, OJ Mayo at the point, Kyle Lowry, Javaris Crittenton, Steph Curry, etc. not to mention passing on any legitimate free agent point guards.
