Don't think we need to necessarily draft for need at the point guard slot. We need a proven backup point guard and not an experiment or someone with not enough experience. There are some elite backup center prospects who could fall to us, and I think that needs to be considered at 25. Also, Doron Lamb may be a good selection for perimeter shooting if he goes this late.

what about John Jenkins? Taking him at 25 would be a reach?

Coach Hollins and Chris Wallace both are not fans of using #25 on a pg since the former does not have a lot of trust in young pg's. It is much easier to have a shooter come in and contribute to the team because of what our needs are. Unfortunately John Jenkins is the best shooter in the draft but his lack of athleticism has him with a 2nd round grade. You may see some mocks with Chicago reaching for him late in the first but most consider that a reach.

I think that Doron Lamb is a better overall player than John Jenkins.

With that said, Jenkins is not a huge stretch at 25. He is certainly in consideration in that range due to his ability to hit the long ball, which will translate at the next level. Most other aspects of his game will require some work, but he should contribute almost immediately as a sharpshooter. He could very well be our pick at 25.

I think they have good reason not to pick a point guard with the #25 selection unless they are really confident in Scott Machado. He has a good shot at becoming a solid NBA point guard, but I am not sure if he fits our team stylistically/defensively.
