Let´s put us where we are... we were so close to beat OKC with PRINCE starting at SF and Q injured, Calathes suspension and the first real minutes for Beno here. With a full season for Beno and Lee, plus a healty roster, Vince for Prince, and a second year coach, i believe its a real upgrade. Like a said before if we cant trade Prince, he could/need to play the PF position and can really help there.
If we cant make more trades this season, next year we have a real chance to resign Marc, get younger starting sf and keep Vince on the bench.

Right now the cap space for 2015 will maybe get us Rudy Gay if he is in a forgiven mood and still maintains his home here.

We have not solved our SF problem with this signing.

The Grizz are the MLS of the NBA, if we haven't traded for them free agents don't just come here if they have other choices. Yes Thierry Henri, Kaka, Frank Lampard play in the MLS but it is in the twilight of their careers.

Carter should be viewed and used as a role player, any designs on him being the starter would be outrageous by the front office to fathom.

I'll agree on the last part. Vince has been solid as a bench player the last several years. I guess he can be a starter but the main thing is his minutes should be 22-25 per game to keep his effectiveness. I very much doubt he can play 30+ without significant drop in production on both ends of the court.

He's a great top of the key PnR guy and in general a pretty good passer so if he is given the chance to handle the ball in PnR with Gasol & Randolph, etc there is some potential there for very good things. He has 3 pt range from all areas of the court. He's no longer a reliable finisher on drives to the paint so that will be frustrating for those who haven't seem him yet. He is pretty good in "clutch" moments. His perimeter defense against quick guards is not great, he tends to get caught up in screens also or over-help down low and not recover to 3pt line but overall he plays team defense (doesn't cheat for steals, etc), is very smart bball player and plays within coaches system on both ends of the court, takes charges, is a tough post defender. He doesn't complain about minutes, roll, touches, etc and is a supportive teammate so his leadership on the court & locker room is good. Also, he hardly misses games so even at his age he is one of the most durable swingmen in the game today as odd as that is & yeah, on occasion he still has Vinsanity moments and brings down the hammer on guys.

Hopefully things work well here. Carlisle was such a great coach for VC, and I'm not sure how good a Coach Joerger is, so I wonder if Vince will be used properly or if he is a mismatch with his Coach (see Phoenix stint) in which case this signing could look pretty bad.

This ^^^

Plus, he was right about Kaman. Just check my signature.

If you're not content with his contract, please call the Mavs by December to get him back. The Mavs will return you with Richard Jefferson and filler (e.g. Felton) plus pick.

I like this signing. It hurts to lose Mike Miller but Carter can also provide 3-point shooting and is a better passer. Hopefully we can get a return for Prince.
