how does j.green look so far?

Post#1 » by callmened » Thu Jan 29, 2015 12:43 pm

question to memphis fans, ive been away out of town so i havent had a chance to watch the NEW grizzlies with Jeff Green

ive always liked green from afar - i think hes a nice player, just not a franchise player despite his talents. My questions are:

- how is he fitting in with the grizz? starting? off the bench?
- are they USING him properly? hes more of a hybrid 3/4 that thrives in transition. thats not the grizz
- how does he fit with v.carter?

thanks

I think the verdict is still out on how to best use him going forward, as although he has been starting of late, his position is not guaranteed. The coach expects to make a decision after the all star break. As for playing with VC, I have seen very few minutes of the two together as VC usually plays the back up SF, but there have been times when Green will play the PF when Vince is on the court but those times have been few that nothing note worthy has popped for me.

I still have mixed feelings. First thing that comes to my mind, he is better than Prince-Quincy. So from there I will make my observation. He is not going to destroy the chemistry of this team, that is out of question.

In defense he is going to help us a lot, Watching him defending Durant on Saturday was very pleasant. Finally we have a stopper for those big SF. Allen and Green are gonna pair greatly in Defense. When it comes to offense, he is only flashing in individual plays, but as time goes by, I expect him to fit in the grizz offensive system.

Regarding the question of Vince Carter, noting important happened there. It is as if you ask about him playing with Lee or any other player. Talking about carter, he is not half of what he used to be. So if you havent watched any grizz game lately I assume you think Carter is kind of important for us but I believe he is the weak link in both sides of the court. He is not an offensive threat at all.

At this point, i think it was a mistake to not resign Mike Miller when he was willing to do so. (probably there was some financial issues or something)

Not really, Vince has a 4M contract with a kicker, we could have mike miller AND James Johnson/ Ed Davis right about now.

Maybe im the only one that dont like mike miller as a grizzlies. I still pick Vince over Mike + Johnson/Davis. I think hes is a good leader for us, and if he is healty again hes invaluable. Mike is a shooter who dont shoot unless his alone, similar to Lee (after J.Green trade hes shooting more, being more agressive  ), Johnson is ok, but hes the type of player u can use when your team is not good enough, same for Ed (+ no high IQ), non of them can open the floor for zach and Marc, so they are totally replaceable.
