If he stays we have a trade piece, if he leaves we have the ability to sign a FA. All things point to him staying, but is that so bad?
I was on the boat of opt out or get shipped out, but then I looked at his stats.

Notice a trend? He absolutely SUCKS when he changes teams, he has trouble getting used to system and his role on the team it seems, but the trend does look promising even if he stays as we should see his numbers go up a bit . Probably not a large amount, but if we designate him closer to 20-25 minutes a game as a highly used role player versus 30 minutes a game then i think it would also help, in all I am under the impression we need to lower the amount of minutes our main wings get, Lee, TA, Carter and Green need to take some minute cuts in favor of Smith, Adams, and FA/draft pick

Re: Jeff Green Conudrum
Let's say that he does stay with the team. And he does works harder to get used to our system. He still has that history of not staying consistent. In all the seasons he has played in his career, they will be games where he is playing very well and some games where he will not show up statistically. For a complimentary player roughly a third option, that's a problem. I get that all players will not play well in all 82 games albeit injuries/issues could happen. Jeff has the skills to be an all star player, but for some reason(I'm thinking passive aggressive personality) disallows him to cross that line to be the success some people think he should be. Personally, considering his way of playing and that he's a tweener/scorer he would be fine as a 6th man coming off the bench. Keep in mind, there is a reason why he continues to be traded from team to team and overall stats only tell part of the story.

Re: Jeff Green Conudrum
I will say I do think his back and other small injuries did start getting to him in the playoffs, Joeger even mentioned it but we needed him out there end of the season and playoffs because Conley and TA were beat up a lot worse. If he underperforms or if an opportunity arises around the Trade Deadline to move him for a floor spacer, trade him in a heartbeat.

It's likely he'll pick up the option. He'll be a fool not to. He's likely not to see another contract to the north of 9 million anytime soon after this contract is finish. I say trade him for a more suitable option if and when the opportunity arises.

Re: Jeff Green Conudrum
The deadline for Green to pick up or decline his option is June 23, so I think the best case scenario is he picks up his option, and then the Grizzlies use him to move up in the draft or flip him for a better fit.
Green is one of the few positive and expendable assets we have, so we really need him to pick up that option. And don't forget that Joerger loves him, so I'm not convinced that they'll let him go if he does opt in. He did have a stretch where he played really well for us, and then he hurt his back and wasn't the same after that. We'll see.

Re: Jeff Green Conudrum
even if he leave we won't have tons of money to spend , would be hard to replace him imo . maybe renounce KK and drop everyone we can , but still not enough to do anything drastic. better if he stays unless we can clear some major room .

That's why I stated earlier that if he picks up his option, he can be utilize in a trade to get somebody back. who it can be is the major question to ask.

Re: Jeff Green Conudrum
He still has a cap hold which can be transferred to sign someone else as far as I know, and with Marc and koufos coming off the pay roll as well, as long as we sign whoever we are gonna sign BEFORE we sign Gasol, then it should be all good.

Re: Jeff Green Conudrum
It's a tough decision because he is valuable however he doesn't possess league-leading talent in any category. He might be overpaid as a 6th man. If he were to step up as a starter then it could be a great relationship. If he flails, as he has most of his NBA career, then he might be in the trade mill. The Grizzlies window for success is short with our bigs and if Jeff Green doesn't emerge in place of the scoring output of ZBO then he could be out the door. I have to think if Rudy Gay wasn't getting it done, Jeff Green has his work cut out for him.

Re: Jeff Green Conudrum
I just want Jeff Green to play an Andre Iguadala role if he comes back. Iggy was offered to us early in the year (like october) but we were afraid because he was on a down slope and was gonna get paid quite a bit for a 6th man plus we had to give up slightly more than we did for green, but in retrospect, should have got him

What was the offer? I don't even remember Iggy's name coming across the Grizz radar.
