Should we continue the GNG era much longer?

Post#1 » by Zordor » Mon Jun 15, 2015 12:22 pm

There is a way Memphis can keep the GNG era for another decade barring injuries if they wanted to (which I explain below) but is that the way Memphis should keep going?

How can Memphis extend the GNG era?

Enter Julius Randle either via trade or eventual FA, if he comes back healthy and plays well, many touted him as the more athletic (probably not anymore haha) Zach Randolph

Enter Rondae-Hollis Jefferson, touted as Michael Kidd Gilchrist with better shooting potential, but put him in the Grizzlies system and under TA, and you have TA 2.0

I fully believe in the long term (age 27-28 ish) Russ smith/Cameron Payne can be the next Mike Conley in our system

Gasol should be with the team for a while even though he is 30

So realistically the pieces are out there that Memphis can use to retain the GNG era, but should they?

Funny you should mention Rondae - the Grizzlies are apparently very high on him and are considering trading up for him.

RHJ is one of the guys on my list for the Grizzlies to go after. From the mock drafts he's range to go between 19th to 23rd. If the Grizzlies are looking to trade up for him. Who can they offer to get further up the draft?
