Hey Grizz fans.

Wondering what you all would be looking for or feel comfortable with as it pertains to moving on from Mike Conley?

We would only move conley if we were going full on rebuild and traded out Gasol, clearly NYK and Brooklyn would be interested but they dont have the assets, Houston might also be interested, again not the right assets. Boston should be interested in Gasol and could acquire Conley in a trade but it would probably turn into a 3 team trade since im sure Memphis wants a point guard back, but I am not sure Marcus Smart is that point guard moving forward. It would take quite a bit to pry Conley away even if he is on a rental, if a team can convince him to resign with them it would increase his value, he just isnt gonna be moved

The only reason to keep the core group of guys together is if you think they can have success in the playoffs. No one and I really mean NO ONE thinks they would win a first round series at this point. This is not success, I would trade Conley and if Gasol would be broken up about it, him as well. At least Gasol has been an all-star and Defensive Player of the year. I blow a stack when I think the organization is ready to give this brittle dude in excess of 100 million and he has never been an All Star. In this market we can not afford to make this type of decision and if it is the owners call and his alone every person that thinks its a good idea should be fired.

Trades to consider

From Brooklyn - T. Young, Bogdonavic, & S. Larkin
From Memphis - M Conley & C lee

we basically make Rio the starting point guard, and we get a good young point guard as a backup who has played minutes
a shooter with above average size and above average three point skills, and T. Young who is on a great contract that he
out performs for the next 3 yrs

From Utah - A Burks & Trey Burke
From Memphis - M Conley & C Lee

We get the answer to the question at SG for around 10 mill a year for the next three years and a great backup PG

From Phoenix - B. Knight & M. Morris
From Memphis - M Conley & Jeff Green

decent point guard who shoots a decent 3 point % and a much better contract and the Stretch PF on an even better contract

Does anyone notice the much better quality of assets we could get by simply moving off of Conley and how they put the organization on a much better footing going forward?

first trade has no merit, second is better but unlikely, the phoenix trade however makes a lot of sense for both teams if Memphis was willing to take the chance on Morris, I think you can let Randolph play the rest of his contract out without having to trade him, moving Gasol/Lee/Allen would have to be almost immediate

Here's a couple of trades

Grizzlies trade Gasol

TO

Celtics for D.Lee, T.Zeller, T. Rozier, Nets 2016 1st round pick and Grizzlies own 1st round pick back.

Expiring contract in Lee. Zeller gets more minutes at the center, Rozier adds aggression and scoring punch at the PG position. Celts cash in on remaining assets for Gasol to improve their chances in the playoffs and at the center position.

Grizzlies trade M. Conley and J. Martin

TO

Jazz for D. Exum, T.Lyles, and T. Booker

Grizz get taller PG in Exum(out til next season) who can distribute the ball and can slash to the post with quickness. Lyles can stretch out the offense as well as take it inside and get you some rebounds. Booker is an expiring contract

Jazz get back veteran PG they needed in Conley who can hit the three ball, set teammates up on offense and provide some leadership for the young and coming Jazz squad. Martin gives the Jazz athleticism and defense at the PF position as well as prove effective in transition offense.

Interesting suggestions.

The Gasol / Boston trade shocks me. Do you guys feel Gasol's value has dropped that much?

I feel like Green's value has dropped a ton. Prior to his trade to MEM, he was viewed as a 3/4 who could step in and start on a contending team. Clearly that's not there case. I know his useage is down... but I just feel the bloom is off that rose.

Not sure Boston would go after Conley. They seem happy with their guard play... don't think they'd want to be on the hook for what Conley will be looking to make

I don't think Gasol's value has drop at all. If anything, his value is up considering the work he's put in the last few years. The idea is to look for the best value you can get in a trade which involves rebuilding your foundation.

As for a Conley to Celts trade, I have my doubts. The teams I can list that could use Conley, Knicks, Nets, Jazz, and Rockets(maybe).
