I wonder who decided to revisit this idea?
Edit: Just found out that the Grizzlies have placed Xavier Munford on waivers.

Re: Former Grizzlies pick Tony Wroten Returns
My thoughts too, I like the move though. Another young PG who's capable of playing alongside Conley. It also shows as an organization we aren't too proud to admit we got rid of him too early, which is something I haven't expected with our history of poor roster moves and Pera's attitude.
The only thing though is that I was looking forward to Harrison coming aboard this year and now it looks like we have too many of essentially the same time of player, inexperienced combo guards.

I don't know why, but I think there will be trades coming involving the Grizzlies. If Conley is not convinced of the Grizzlies signings in free agency, he will likely sign elsewhere. At that point, do a sign and trade if possible. Same way with Marc Gasol if rebuilding will be the path to go.

Phil Jackson saw some talent in him so I think it was a smart move to pick him off the waiver wire after NY basically had to because of the Rose trade and roster size constraints. I don't think they were ready to renounce their free agents yet so he got lost in the mix.
He IMHO had some good stats for Philly when he played, I do think there were questions with his shot selection there as a starter but he will provide us with a solid offensive spark off the bench. In Philly they were in desperation mode for offense so Tony took alot of bad shots there towards the end playing hurt but I think he is now in a better environment where he brings that percentage up. Philly basically developed him for us so he isn't raw at all anymore.
I also guess it was just a small low cost insurance for Conley leaving yet he is more of a true 2 that can play the 1 in a backup role only. He had a really well structured contract with NY that we took on so im happy about it from a talent/financial standpoint as well.

True about picking Wroten up on a cheap deal. The main issues I had with Wroten was his broken jumpshot. Otherwise, I think he has some potential to be a role player. I wish the Grizzlies did a better job taking the time out to develop their players when they drafted in in the first place.
Now that we're under new coaching mgmt, his development system will be put to the test.
