Re: Grizzlies Rookie Press Conference
They certainly didn't look too happy at first in that press conference but I was impressed with Fizdale, and Baldwin was funny, especially at the end. Davis couldn't look much more disinterested though.

Re: Grizzlies Rookie Press Conference
Well it was kind of awkward as he probably won't be even as close to as being good as Kris Dunn yet he was getting press from the Grizz media like he will be a serious game changer for us when internally everyone else in the front office knows thats not the case. I guess its nice to still make a rookie feel special in press releases in case they end up breaking out. An organization touting you to be better than you are presently sometimes gives motivation to certain players. Kyle Lowry ended up being a better player than he was on day one.
Grizzlies probably had intentions of trading up with Denver and getting Jamaal Murray but might have been afraid at the last moment that it sent the wrong signal to Conley.
Baldwin was likely chosen as less threatening as he is a clear backup to Conley presently while Murray could have been looked liked our point guard of the future.
Chalmers probably won't be back and Munford is still kinda green and might not make it past training camp so Baldwin was a logical choice based on our current situation at the 1.

Baldwin presented more confidence in his interview whereas Davis came off too reserved and perhaps too shy( maybe not used to getting attention like this). He did say he will get with Z-Bo sometime in the offseason and get some learning lessons from the former Mich State alum. Davis as expected looks to be a project in the making.
As for Munford,he was waived earlier today, as the Grizzlies brought back Tony Wroten.

I'm a Spartan fan and that interview was as engaged and excited as I've ever seen him.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

Really?
What more can you tell the Grizz fans here about Davis in terms of play and personality?

Re: Grizzlies Rookie Press Conference
I think he'll be alright, he just seems incredibly introverted and any kind of postgame interview was almost painful to watch. Davis was also still very raw. You'd see flashes and those flashes seemed to increase as the season went on, but he was nowhere near the impact player as our undrafted senior, Matt Costello. He likes skying for blocks which can occasionally leave him unprepared for other defensive assignments, but overall he does a good job of roaming the paint. He has a smooth touch inside but lacks the post moves to get more opportunities.

I can say for sure that he's most definitely a project that's currently under construction. Given that he was taken by the Grizzlies, Davis is with the right team. A blue collar team that's tough around the edges and strongest at it's core. With the right mentorship and tools necessary to improve his skills set and his social personality weaknesses, Davis should be on his way to a solid career in due time.
