The Deyonta Davis Files

This season served as a project for Davis as he finds his way as a Grizzly and a player in the NBA. His minutes were spot up at best. When he did get to play, he showed flashes of potential towards the defensive end though his shot blocks, being a rim protector and upcoming man to man defense. His offense is limited to put backs and dunks so he will have to continue to work on both ends of the floor to realize his potential. Davis will get there in good time.

I wonder how much attention is he getting from the other big men on the roster? Dave Joerger took the big man assistant with him to Sacramento and I don't know if Fizdale has someone on his staff that works with them since Devonta is the only young big. The reason I ask is that DD has the same demeanor he began the year with. (Sulking) no one has pulled him aside and taught him how to be a pro or instill confidence in him regarding his development.

I hope he stays in memphis long enough to prove he can be a decent backup.

He has the size and the athleticism. If he can put that big body to work, he will succeed in nba.

In what context?

size , athlete . similar skills and weaknesses with davis being more raw . arthur was more of a scoring threat with more range and had better handles when the draft rolled around .

When I think of DA, I think of how Udonis Haslem played as they are similar in terms of skills. Both had good mid range, solid rebounding, and defense.

With DD, he's raw like you said. And he has potential to become a solid contributor for the Grizzlies. I guess from my perspective, I don't have a player in mind that's he similar to just yet.

I dont remember how Deandre Jordan was in his first year but I guess it must not be that different. One of those guys that on offense, he can play above the rim and good D. Kind of an anchor for the second unit.

Other players that come to mind are Javale Mcgee, Biyombo.
