The running joke when we had Casey as coach was that when JV would have Raps on a run Casey would call a timeout and then sub him out. JV finally said he thought he could dojust a little more than set screens. That was completely lost on Casey who wanted screens, rim protection and sit yer A down.

I'm guessing Casey was used to guys that big not being particularly skilled - Alex Len types. But JV came into the NBA as a skilled big who could become... a Marc Gasol - and he's now every bit as good as Marc Gasol - it's just that nobody noticed.

This has some good clips of JV and some Delon as well. Hopefully not too Rapz homey for the Grizz brigade.

Hopefully JV can play soon, curious to see how he fits in with this team.

The beast is back ... finally!!! 23/10 and 2 assists, in 21 minutes, in last night's game against the Spurs. Crowd was kind of quiet at first. JV came off the bench 4 minutes into the 1st quarter, to a muted but warm reception. Delon started and did well directing traffic. Even CJ was hitting some shots and playing half decent. The Grizzlies other acquisition, Avery Bradley was beasting it too. By the end of the 1st quarter, the Grizzlies were up by 11, I believe, and the FedEx Forum was ELECTRIC. Fans yelling and screaming and a huge standing ovation. Too bad the Grizzlies lost the game by 1 point, but it was a really fun and exciting nail biter. It was really hard to see JV in a grizzlies Jersey, but I think he will get more respect and playing time from the Grizzlies management. And I'm almost certain that Masai will realize by the end of this season, that he should have traded Serge, not JV! Tough week for all JV fans, but he will shine in Memphis and I'm happy for him. I just got NBA League Pass ($45 for the rest of the season) and I will be watching all of the remaining Grizzly games. Still a Raps fan for now, but I'm definitely also a Grizzlies fan now.
