Memphis started the game as though they expected an easy win with Kat not playing but found a team that came to play. Give Minnesotsa credit, they played a great game.

With how Memphis approached the game & how well Minnesota played from start to finish, this is not a game a bad team would have won. Memphis just won ugly & it was on the back of their 2 rookies.

Great game from Brooks. He just owns Minnesota & when he's productive …

Morant with a quiet 25/7/4 stat line, coming up big in the clutch again. He's not a player to shy away from the big moments, he thrives in them.

While several players joined Brooks & Morant to have solid games, it was ultimately Jaren's defense that turned the game in Memphis favor. Excellent defensive showing from 3J. As well as Brooks played, 3J was the player of the game for me.

If Memphis win 6 games or more in their next 18 matches they will have either tied or surpassed last seasons record with Gasol & Conley before Gasol was traded for Jonas & Delon.

To tie last years record at the point of trade, they would have to win 1, for every 3 games played. It's not hard to imagine them surpassing that, having played better than 500 ball for the last month or so, with them also steadily improving.

They currently sit on a 3 game win streak. which should have been 4 & a playoff spot, if they didn't let up against the Kings & blow a 20pt lead.

If we beat the Spurs next game, we should be in 8th place. Pretty crazy.

This season has turned into an unpredictable ride for the ages. For a team on the rebuild, this has been a unique way to rebuild a team given where this team stands as of right now.

The West being weak is what was unexpected. This team IMO is better than their current record which is why I thought they were originally tanking with some of their rotational decisions but of course integration & familiarity plays a factor.

After watching the Spurs game last night I now know why Memphis have been playing 5v8 in their last several games/wins. In the TD Gardens, at home, Walker was fouled out 18 mins in with Boston making a comeback... (within 7) generally refs do what they can to keep stars on the floor even if they deserve to be fouled out.. TP of the game.

The league did this when Garnett & Peirce slipped into the playoffs with the Nets in their swan song year. The league was giving them a leg up. Amir Johnson was the Raptors best player in game 7 of their series & he was intentionally fouled out while they did everything they could to keep Deron on court & sure enough the player that should have fouled out instead of Amir for the Nets, made the game winning basket in a one possession game. It could also be argued that Ross was fouled in his attempt to win it.

If Memphis see some bad calls tonight, don't be shocked by it. This team will most likely have to win another, 5v8. As young as they are, if they want it, they're going to have to play through it.

Portland coming off their win against the Raptors just got spanked by Minnesota, who won easily.

IMO, Minnesota are a better TEAM without Kat. They're clearly better defensively & they get better shot distribution. With Kat out, Culver is playing his best ball on the season where before he was playing in Kat's shadow.

Memphis didn't overcome a weak opponent the other night, this Wolves team without Kat has a winning record & almost toppled the Bucks with their gritty defense.

If I were Minnesota, I'd be looking for assets on Kat instead of giving them up to build around him.

Memphis didn't come with their best effort but managed to win ugly against a team that's playing very well without Kat.
