Re: Game 64 : MEM @ BOS
Maybe I should stop tuning in. This game was very cringe.
Tatum and White were firing on all cylinders. Horford and RWilliams were rim protecting super well. The Celts looked outstanding tonight.
Ja started off with one of his worst outings, but then connected on many baskets in a row. But, we still could not clamp down enough defensively to gain any sort of edge. This was a bit concerning because it showed the opposite side of what happens when our transition basketball is stymied. I hope the playoffs are nothing like this.
Melton really hasn't been good this year and missed a basic layup in game. Williams struggled a bit, but he is still a rookie learning the game. It could just be the Celts are our kryptonite because they have two rim protectors, who can impede Ja's rim progress. We really could use Brooks as another weapon (as we did in last year's playoff) to create his own shot. This would take the heat off Ja and allow us to ultimately optimize our shot selection.

Yeah Ja started off rough which killed us initially (him and Bane made zero FGs the first quarter). He and the team then picked it up offensively and let go of the rope defensively. Not a terrible loss in the grand scheme of things since Boston is playing very well right now, but definitely worries you a bit for the playoffs.
And Melton has been up and down. He has been playing well lately and does a lot to help us win, but I feel like he is always good for 2-3 bad turnovers each game and I cringe a little when he shoots even though his numbers aren't terrible if you ignore the slump he hit. I don't think we are using him to the best of his abilities and I doubt we will given our roster construction and coaching preference.
Yeah I'm ready for Brooks to be back. He gives us a clear wing defender even though he isn't a world-beater or anything. He also has shot creation though he will cost us a game or two by trying to create ill-advised shots while being cold. Still I think we are best with him starting at SF instead of Ziaire. Ziaire could be solid off the bench for us.
