People have floated Lonzo+4 for the #2. No way the grizz would ever consider that, right?

Yeah I'm pretty doubtful we'd take that. Seems like our ownership (and maybe FO?) see Ja as a star. I think it'll be hard to convince them to give him up and Ball+4 doesn't feel like it would do it though I have no idea what they think of Ball or the players available at 4.

One of the Memphis fans on the T&T board suggested 4+7+Ball(or back half of the lottery 1st) as what he'd consider for #2. I'm not sure personally what I'd want back so I thought I'd throw his suggestion out there. He values Ball as equal to picks 10-12ish which I think could be a little low but you get the idea. Good question though.

If one of Suns, Bulls still have interest in trading their pick for Lonzo as rumored. That could make the potential offer...

Ja for Garland & one of Hunter/Culver … (2 for 4 & 6/7).

Today, both Suns & Bulls are rumored to be trying to trade up for #4 while Cavs are said to have interest in Garland, despite having Sexton. Which means that if NO's doesn't take Garland at 4, Cavs would at 5 which could explain the 2 teams vying for a PG trying to leap the Cavs but why the interest for Cavs?.

It lends to your post that they might potentially be trying to trade up with Memphis for #2 to land RJ before he falls to the Knicks.

Cavs were rumored to have strong interest in Barret not Garland, they already have Sexton. Where taking Garland would make for a small backcourt.

If Memphis take RJ at 2, one of Ja or Garland would be there at 4, where NO's are rumored to be using that 4th pick to land a quality vet. Cavs could theoretically trade Love for the 4th +, end up with RJ, +

-Memphis maybe net #4 Garland + #5, #26 for #2 Barret.
-Cavs #2 RJ & future pick/s from NO's
-NO's Love

With Favors said to be not currently on the table there's not much perceived value there. An often injured Exum, Crowder & the 23 pick is not something I would think Memphis would give Conley up for, at least I hope not.

If no future pick is in this deal. I'd assume maybe one of the teams in need of a PG might get Rubio in a S&T?.

Minnesota #11,
Detroit #15,
Orlando #16,

Memphis would then be trading Conley for - (Crowder, Exum, (#11/15/16), #23).

SD NBA draft net has K.Johnson mocked at 16. Does your team have any interest in Rubio?.

Marc Stein

@TheSteinLine

Milwaukee is offering draft compensation this week in hopes of finding a team willing to take on the contract of Tony Snell or Ersan Ilyasova via trade, league sources say, as the Bucks seek to create added flexibility to retain elite status in the East

Memphis trade (Avery Bradley partially guaranteed contract) for (Snell, #30).

Memphis should hold out for Favors/Exum as the main interest for Conley...….would the #2 pick start looking like RJ Barrett if the trade with Jazz goes down.

Agree with holding out for Favors but if Memphis trade Conley you'd have to assume they have their PG replacement.

So I think the only way Memphis pass on Ja for RJ, is if they're trading down for Garland & Multiple assets. Cavs?

Fletcher Mackel

@FletcherWDSU

Pelicans could trade #4 pick in 2019 @nba draft for #6 pick (Suns) or #7 pick (Bulls) and acquire a 2020 protected 1st round selection from Phoenix or Chicago.

Suns/Bulls both strong interest in Darius Garland.

Deal similar to Dallas/ATL 2018 Doncic draft trade.

Keith Smith

@KeithSmithNBA

Hearing one of the teams most interested in picking up the #4 pick from Lakers/Pelicans is the Hawks. Atlanta has actively trying to move up by packaging together 2 of their 3 picks. The Hawks really don't want 3 rookies next year with an already very young roster.

Pretty decent I'd say. Hopefully we don't overpay him by too much.

Lonzo has the tools to be a great PG in the league. My concern comes down to his durability. Can he stay healthy? Can he develop in a system where he does not feel the intense pressure to become great in a hurry. I'm sure he can as he's away from the Lakers. Good luck to Lonzo. I rather go with Morant and start from there.

TBH, I'm glad that Lonzo is away from L.A. To me, the trade is the best thing that should happen to him. I was not in favor of him being drafted by his hometown team and the pressure that he endured between having to be great when he struggled and to the family circus that is the Baller Brand. They were enough distractions that render his progress during his short time as a Laker.

I would like for the Grizzlies to do so. JV can be a solid asset( offense and defense) and big man to 3J's finesse defense and offensive ability.

If Utah wants Conley that bad, at least put Favors on the table. Exum scares me with his health issues. Twice in two seasons he not been able to maintain his health due to his injuries. If someone else can be in place instead of Exum, then the Grizzlies have something to talk about.

Utah waives Neto, waives and stretches Korver, and then does Crowder+Allen+23 for Conley. I could get behind that if we were able to use that nice TPE for additional assets. Some very rough options:
-12+MKG(or Biyombo) for 23
-13+Ryan Anderson for 23 (immediately waived so only 15m)
-Turner+25+2nd for cash considerations
-Nene+Deyonta Davis+small salary+2020 HOU 1st Top 20 protected for Crowder

If we came away with expiring contracts, Allen, 2020 HOU 1st, and a late lottery pick we would have done extremely well.

If such a trade when down, the scenario I would choose would be the Ryan Anderson trade. At least the Grizzlies get the stretch his salary and gain the #13 as the result. The player I would choose at #13 would be: Bruno Fernando. shot blocker, defense, transitional player, dunks(add excitement for fans) will need to improve his mid-range shooting ability. very smart player overall who plays within his limits.

Taking MKG would be cheaper and Biyombo really isn't that much more expensive. Plus you could keep them and not have to waive them if you wanted (both are expiring contracts). I wouldn't stretch anyone.

I guess from that aspect, you make a good point. I can't stand Biyombo because he has been a complete bust with the exception of his lone season run with the Raptors from four seasons ago. From that point, the Grizzlies need to re-sign JV to a solid and reasonable contract. To MKG, defensively, he's alright. Overall, he came into the league very overrated and didn't deserve the hype he receive before he was drafted.

Granted these two have expiring contracts for the upcoming season and would likely suit the Grizzlies for salary cap purposes, these guys just don't do it for me. They play for a team that had been mired by mediocrity for years. The same type of mediocrity that breeds lack of player development and and better success rates throughout it's tenure. I remember when Mike's name was linked to Charlotte back at the trade deadline. I was praying the Grizzlies do not deal with Charlotte because they do not have any players outside of Kemba I would want playing for the team.

Culture taking a hit is fair. I just saw them as salary dumps but you make a good point. Maybe you could negotiate a buyout with them. They could give back the equivalent of the vet min and then go play for the Lakers on a min contract while we pay them the rest of their original salary.

"According to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, citing a source, the Knicks declined a recent trade offer from the Hawks in which New York would have sent the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft to Atlanta in exchange for the No. 8 and No. 10 selections".

Read more at: https://nesn.com/2019/06/nba-rumors-knicks-reject-this-hawks-trade-offer-for-no-3-draft-pick/

Hawks have been linked more to Culver & Hunter. With Trey I doubt they'd take either Ja or Garland.

NO's have been rumored to have interest in the #2 pick. RJ or Ja?

If Hawks successfully traded for #3, if NO's is interested in RJ, Memphis would be able to take him at 2 for NO's, trade down for multiple assets & land Ja with the 4th pick assuming reports of Hawks interest in Culver & Hunter are accurate ..
