OT: Posting on Grizzlies.com?

Post#1 » by mid-post » Tue Jun 1, 2010 12:39 am

Anybody know what the deal is with their message board?
I've registered several accounts to post on the grizzlies nba.com message board.
Each time it says registration was successful; I'm able to log-in and edit user controls, etc. but then I end up waiting weeks to get approval to post. The approval never comes and then my registered account and login info cease to work.
It's incredibly frustrating. I wouldn't have bothered to ask around here, but I know that a few people who post here also post there. So I guess I'll be talking grizzlies ball only here, which is too bad. Don't get me wrong, I love realgm, but the grizzlies section of this site is a little quiet sometimes.

I'd suggest giving it one more go. Once you've set up an account, try PM'ing one of the mods (10SC-2-TOKYO for example) for assistance. I've had great luck with them when I've had account issues. All in all it's a good community over there.

I just registered the other day and can't post as well.

I tried to PM a mod but they won't let me do that either.

Yup. Same. And I haven't gotten any other kind of email response when I contacted the mods of that board by email. It's pretty ridiculous, and frustrating especially considering: A. It's the official forum of the Memphis Grizzlies and B. It's one of the few Memphis Grizzlies with any significant sort of activity (no offense to this particular forum).
I don't tend to get pissed about anything, but this is...infuriating

It's not so much a Grizzlies forum as a forum for player-fans to rant. But there are some very good posters there and it's an active board.

 It's basically a giant let's piss on everyone but Marc Gasol forum. Every player has rabid supporters, especially OJ. Every player also has "haters" except for Marc for the most part. Well there was one guy who wanted to trade him for Channing Frye, but he doesn't really count.

Honestly, from the two days that I've lurked on the site it is running rampant of homers and haters lol. I didn't expect so much negativity towards O.J.

Truth be told: I am a Conley hater but I guess I would be objective if he performed well. So that might be right up my alley. Still, I feel like we have quality over quantity here.

Is there a reason for the giant anti-Lionel Hollins fan base on Grizzlies.com?

Yes. Many of the people who post there are deluded and/or stupid player-fans.
Like I said, there are some really good posters who have tons of information and insight on the Grizzlies, going back to the Vancouver days. But too many of them are morons who like trading insults with one another and bashing players on the team they don't like.
The only real advantage of that board over this one is you get a higher rate of Grizzlies information in terms of developments with the team, local stories on the Grizz, etc.
Hopefully as the Grizz get better, this board eclipses that one, or the good posters over there migrate here.
And yes, I'm bitter about the fact that I can't even post on the damn board, considering some of the idiots who can.

The benefit to posting here though is that we can weed out the trolls more effectively and promote intelligent discussion.

I am not an active reader over there either but that Shades of Blue blog I found off of someone's post is really informative and a worthwhile read. If only those posters would come over here...

There are several good posters on the grizz.com boards. chip3 (who is a key contributor to 3SoB) is just one example. Posting and reading the grizz.com boards is like prospecting, most of what you find is dirt, but every now and then you'll find a nugget. The way I see it grizz.com is good for local information/perspective from folks, including a lot of season ticket holders/regular attenders and whatnot. RealGM.com is for the community and being able to interact with fans from other teams. Both are important parts to my Grizz addiction :)
