Question About Mayo?????
How is he looked upon in Memphis not just by fans but by the coaching staff and front office. I know I had heard he was on the market even if it was "testing the waters" at the deadline last season. What red flags does he have that they may look at moving him?

Re: Question About Mayo?????
Owner and "decision maker" Michael Heisley has emphatically denied that OJ is/was on the market on more than one occasion. He is determined to keep the starting 5 together, and that includes keeping OJ here.
All of his red flags stem from his pedestrian athleticism and physicality. His lack of size and speed at the SG position makes him a lousy defender, hence his goal to be a PG long-term.

They always speak highly of him. Heisley has referred to him as mini-Kobe on a few occasions. He and Wallace have been pleased with his professionalism and desire to get better by deciding to play in SL. I've heard them on both the radio and tv commending him for that.
If he has ever been on the block, it wasn't for character. It would be because they're concerned about his size at the SG and the coach does not view him as a PG. Wallace and Hollins differ on their opinion about OJ's ability to play the point. So I could see them trying to move OJ because they have a difference of opinion as to how he should be used. He's a very good, productive player though. He can play in any system and be a valuable contributor to any team.

OJ was our franchise player until the Rudy Gay resign. I'm not sure where OJ falls now. He was the captain. I think he's still alpha dog on this team but doesn't mean he'll be here forever. I think they'd trade him for the right price. For now it's good to have as many future allstars as we can have.

you said it brother. OJ is a big time player. You know I remember OJs rookie year i thought we were going to see a MJ and Scottie type cailber duo where they would be the best perimeter punch and terrorizing the league OJ and Rudy that is and I bet most though so also. Rudy just never hit it off with OJ and vice versa relationship wise. Like the way Westbrook and Durant hit it off. Rudy barely passes to OJ, OJ barely passes to Rudy. There was a little bit of improvement this year, not nearly as bad as last year. If they can put their egos aside and not care who is getting his and share the ball with one another it will work.

If they would go back to the pick and pop between them like OKC does they would be deadly but I doubt Hollins will.
In terms of trade block, it is simply they don't want to loose OJ for nothing if he decides to go to a big market. So they are seeing what they can get for him more than anything. The other reason is OJ and Conley are the smallest backcourt in the league
OJ Mayo , Michael Jordan , Allen Iverson.

Warriors fan here, I remember Mayo was rumored to be traded for Monta.
I am glad they didn't do it for both teams.
I like the Grizz but I don't see them passing first round although I think they are a lock for the playoffs.
