Conley to Portland

It appears you are not pleased with Mike Conley's progress. I know you did not want to deal with the Blazers in the past. However, if you are going to use OJ Mayo at the point, do you think
Andre Miller to Memphis
Mike Conley Jr and Darrell Arthur to Portland would work. Andre has a Team option for 2011 (7.2 Mil) and a PER over 18. Great option if Mayo struggles and would be solid in your rotation.

Arthur is included to make the salaries work. Trade could be expanded if Conley works.

Memphis would love to get Andre Miller, as it is highly unlikely that Mayo will be allowed to move to the point guard position under our current coach.

Although we would need to ammend the deal as we are already thin at the power forward position.

Andre Miller to Memphis

Mike Conley Jr. & Demarre Carroll to Portland

If Portland agreed to this deal than of course Memphis is willing to let all the ugliness in the past be forgotten.

I wouldn't mind the deal except Andre Miller can't shoot past 16 feet.

While his shooting at times could be a liability it would be great to have a point guard capable of the 8 assist/gm he averages, which has never happened for the Grizz in Vancouver or Memphis.

If we don't acquire a big point guard rather soon, the alternative may be to part with OJ Mayo for a star at the position and a backup power forward. As Xavier and Tony Allen could play the shooting guard position and bring balance to the lineup. As it stands right now he is just a younger version of Ben Gordon, and the Grizz can't afford to pay an undersize shooting guard 10 mill per like Detroit.

Those who love Mayo in Memphis better hope for a big point guard acquisition and soon or his days may be numbered in Bealle Street Blue.

What about Fernandez and Pryzibilla for Conley and Haddadi ?

Miller is a better fit for us than Conley. Though if we were to move a 23 yr old Conley for a 34 yr old Miller, I feel the trade should be expanded to benefit each team long term.

Mem gets:
Andre Miller
Jerryd Bayless
Dante Cunnigham

Por gets:
Mike Conley
Xavier Henry
DeMarre Carroll

We get a starter and a backup in Bayless, plus Cunnigham can play some strech 4 for us, even though he's more of a 3. Henry could be the replacement in whatever deal that Por has Fernandez in., hearing he's pretty close to being dealt.

Andre for Conley/Carrol, that´s the best offer on the table.

I feel very confident that the Blazers will not be trading Andre Miller for Mike Conley. I can almost guarantee it. IMHO, the Blazers best case scenario is to package the expiring contracts of Miller and Joel Pryzbilla in some type of consolidation trade that can hopefully net a good-great starting PG. If they can also acquire a pack up PF, veteran SF, it'd be a great package deal.

I was playing with some options on the trade checker, and I have another direction. Would the Grizz do something like this?

Blazers trade:
Rudy Fernandez
Jerryd Bayless
Jeff Pendergraph

Grizz Trade:
Mike Conley
1st round pick (protected)

This could potential give the Grizz a three guard rotation of Mayo, Fernandez, Bayless. I'm not sure what the final depth chart would look like, but maybe something like this?

PG: Mayo/Bayless
SG: Fernandez/Bayless/Sam Young
SF: Rudy Gay/Carroll
PF: Zach Randolph/Darrell Arthur/Jeff Pendergraph
C: Marc Gasol/Hasheem Thabeet/Haddai

If everything lined up properly, the Blazers might be able to sign and trade Patty Mills, the PG from Australia. I'm not sure, but I think they still own his rights as well.

Due to the Grizz already having a heavily protected 1st owned by Minnesota (from Utah - Ronnie Brewer 8 game rental), that won't fly.

I don't think it'd have to be for this year. It is my understanding that teams can't trade picks in back to back years? So maybe for a pick down the road? I'm not crazy about giving up that many players for someone who's not a clear upgrade. There are many Blazer fans who still think Bayless can live up to his original pre-draft hype, but I think it'd be good to give those guys a different system where they'll have a chance to live up to that potential.

Bottom line, if the Grizzlies are interested in Bayless, Fernandez, filler, I'd be interested in Conley, but there'd probably have to be a little bit more coming back to the Blazers imho.

Raps fan here...

I'm wondering about the availablity of Mike Conley. I mean, are the Grizzlies looking for a better "fit" at the PG spot or are they looking for a clear upgrade over Conley in terms of talent?

You guys invested a 4th overall pick in Conley, so I know it's going to have to take a good offer, one that makes sense both roster-wise and financially.

I ask this, because the Raptors, have two PGs that may prove to be better "fits" over Conley, but not necessarily better talent-wise. I know Calderon is somebody that isn't likely to interest the Grizzlies b/c of his contract, but Jarrett Jack, with his contract? That's something I can see. We probably would need to sweeten the offer a tad bit - like say, we take on additional salary from you guys that's unwanted or something other compensation.

But, what I want to know is, am I reading the Conley situation in Memphis clearly?

I don't think Toronto is the direction they want to go in when attempting to replace Conley at the point guard position. They want a clear upgrade, meaning no one would question the replacement starting. We would not want another so called point guard battle for the reigns at the position. If Calderon was on Jarret Jacks contract yeah we could do a deal but his current deal makes it prohibitive for us as we have a lot of individuals looking for new deals after this season.
