Mayo cut from USA team

Post#1 » by vanjulio » Wed Jul 28, 2010 8:04 pm

What the heck?

How does Eric Gordon make it over Mayo? I thought Mayo would be better than Chancey or Westbrook as well. And then you got Lamar Odom over Gerald Wallace?

I predict this team to lose in Turkey and 2012 Olympics because we're sending our JV team over there and the gold medal winners from 2008 are just chilling on vacation. I'd love Rudy gay and team to win gold in both tournaments but I don't see it happening with such a reduction in talent.

Who would you rather have - Kevin Love or David Lee? Brook Lopez or Amar'e Stoudamire? Come on

Gordon got the not over Mayo due to being stronger and being able to play some SF. Billups over Mayo due to Billups being able to play point guard.

Odom over Wallace - toss up. Lamar is a better inside presence IMO.

Love over Lee - Lee is out due to surgery on his finger.

Lopez over Stoudamire - Amare couldn't get insurance coverage for the event.

That said - this team will still be dynamic and will compete. Coach K will get the best out of these guys.

I know about Amar'e and Lee - I just meant that as an example of a downgrade in quality due to factors that I don't consider to be the bottom line of bringing the best talent to the team. Extraneous factors.

I guess it's ok and if you look at the 2006 team versus the 2008 team they aren't the exact same squad either. I know they will be tough anyways with this team. and Coach K is much better than Larry Brown for this kind of game.

I really think they should have kept Mayo on the roster, he seemed like a perfect fit for this style of ball...

I agree, he looked good out there - but with the summer league experiment with him on the point not going well - maybe this will put a big ole chip on his shoulder.

This has to be summer from Hell for Juice.

USC banishment
F grade on transition to point guard
Among first to be cut from National team, and Eric Gordon and Stephen Curry make it for now and both are in inch shorter
If he is traded before the season he may want to apologize to that chick he dumped and who subsequently put a curse on him.

Ha...I was thinking the same thing. Poor guy just can't catch a break. That's a shame because I think he's really been working hard this offseason. Hopefully he uses all of this as motivation to get better. I wish he'd have a breakout season, but I'm afraid there might not be enough elbow room for him here to do that.

lol, I heard about his ex putting a curse on him, but didn't believe it.

I will never doubt this talent/skill/ability, the guy simply always delievers when he needs he. I see an all-star breakout year coming up this year. He is going to prove the haters wrong. You need to face difficult times that's how you get thoroughout your career.
OJ Mayo , Michael Jordan , Allen Iverson.
