WHAT DOES IT MEAN:

Grevis Vazquez is the Grizz 13th man and not currently NBA ready

Little to no minutes at the point guard position for OJ Mayo

Mike Conley Jr. will still be the starting point guard for the Grizz on opening night

Coach Hollins did not believe he had a backup point guard he was comfortable with

IMO

You know what they say, "You can't spell Lightning in a Bottle without A-C-I-E...Errr, at least you couldn't if it had a C in it!"

Jman-

We had lightning in a bottle once B4. Things got screwed up real tough. As for Acie Law, I'm not too convinced he's the answer @ PG. He's more of a score first, pass second type of player.

Can sign Acie to $885k but can't give Xavier an extra $200k guaranteed.

Good point. Though I don't expect anything else from our bush league management/owner.

Quick rundown on Acie as a Hawks fan-

Gets into the lane easily, tends to overpenetrate and doesn't have a in-between floater/runner. Can't really shoot off the dribble, not great range, inconsistent jumper. Decent handles, but can't really create well. Can make the obvious pass, but doesn't have the vision to see a step ahead.

I don't understand why is that a good move at all! I'd rather had kept Jamaal Tinsley then brought this guy to the team.

I agree - Tinsley is better even at old age if he can stay on the court (which I understand he could not at the end of last season) thus he's out. But what's wrong with this picture is that Acie Law is not really much better than Marcus Williams (who I utterly despised bringing onto the team). Yet Marcus Williams I think in his time showed he can follow instructions and run the offense. He wasn't any kind of threat individually but seemed like a decent backup for a team with no other option. Acie Law would be no better option. I hope he shows to be better than Marcus Williams but after night of thinking it over I don't see compelling reasons to hope for much improvement there. I almost like Anthony Roberson more! I first thought he could be another Brevin Knight - not quite!! Don't kid yourself there. He managed to keep himself out of the DLeague so I know he has the talent and some shooting skills. But it's strange to think he's our answer there. At least we stayed away from JWill, Earl Watson, Chris Quinn, Jannero Pargo, Chucky Atkins, and Travis Diener. We coulda done worse.

what would people think if we brought in Rafer Alston instead? just curious

also can Luther Head run point? I see him listed as unsigned still. I know he can drain the 3.

and my own personal bias prefers Javaris Crittenton but that's probably a silly idea too.

Earl Watson is the best remaining available - but he was likely too expensive.

This year's Marcus Williams; 3rd string PG for injury insurance, but possibly the backup if Vasquez can't hang.

What? Marcus Williams was absolutely horrible, the worst defender on the team by far and when he did run the offense he did very well. Unfortunately, the other 80% of the time the guy would just start chucking up shots that only Kobe takes.
Rafer Alston sucks, guy got cut by the Nets and basically quit on the Heat last year.
From what I've seen Luther Head is a straight shooting guard

Agree, but I also think he'll bring more than Williams (in that Law is a good shooter, a need for this team).

Is Law's contract fully guaranteed?

He seems like he'll be the last guard off your bench.
