A Near Fatal Road to Coaching- Antonio Burks

Post#1 » by jman3134 » Wed Nov 3, 2010 9:26 pm

What are your thoughts on this? I was shocked to learn that he now walks with a limp and almost died after being shot overseas. Crazy bad luck for this former Grizzly.

The tapes sit in a stack on his desk, along with a computer, a trophy, a shoe.

One is marked, "Memphis vs. Tulane, 2004."

Another is marked "Villanova, 1/08/04."
Antonio Burks uses the videos to show his players how it's done, how you're supposed to play the position of point guard.

"I had 22 and 10 against Tulane," he says, nudging the tape. "The Villanova game, I had six 3s."

That was just six years ago, when Burks was the unquestioned leader of the Memphis Tigers. When he pops a tape in the TV, it can seem even more recent than that.

"I still get chills when I look at them," he says. "Because of what happened, these tapes are going to be what I have to live off of for the rest of my life."
