Marc Gasol's new contract

The Grizz have made a couple of huge contract decisions recently with Conley and Gay, now that Gasol and Z-Bo are up soon, how would you rank their value to the team and the amount of $$ that justify?
Just for argument's' sake, if the new CBA is not a factor, how much do you think Gasol should be paid? Do you expect him to maintain his steady workhorse style of play or do you expect some offensive upside in the future?

Right now Marc's playing through pain on a sprained ankle. This year to date shouldn't be seen as a step back. I also don't think he's topped out yet.
In regards to a new contract, which due to his initial contract can't be negotiated until after this season - at which time he'll be an RFA, I think the standard has been set with Noah and Horford's deal. While his game isn't exactly like theirs, it's similar in nature/importance to the team. 5 @ $60 million or so would be about right.

5 years-$60 million is market value.

Marc will get
at least $12 million and could very easily get offers for more than that. Luckily the Grizz can match any offer.
Then again, Heisley might just give him $18 million and call it a day.

No doubt. Player negotiation is not one of our strong suits.

lol y'all not gonna keep him for 12mil. even the raps might go as high as just under max to get him. gasol blocks well and defends like a 7 ft artest. he shoots like 60% and you guys are letting him get like 10 points a game? how have memphis fans not revolted yet lol?

1) Marc does not block well.
2) Marc is a below-average defender at this point in his career.
3) Marc's point and rebound numbers are down because he has been playing on a bad ankle all season.
4) Heisley matches just under the max for Marc before you can say Colangelo.

1) career 1.3 a game makes him qualifies him for "well"
2) no
3) that's true, but not all of it. if that were the only reason, his efficiency would suffer as well. he's not getting enough touches. take tonight's game for example, he had 8 attempts, zobo had 16. he made 6, zobo also made 6. whaaaaaaaaaat, give marc the ball :/
4) we're expecting that, but if you're stopping at 12mil, we won't be the only one to top you. i guess that means we're in agreement that he's worth more than 12.

If he stays, they need to make sure he has the ball more often. He is an exceptionally efficient player, that should be taking 10-12 shots per game, in addition, he is also a great passer with a high BB IQ.

Grizz better get their act together on re-signing Gasol. There is talk on the Suns board that the FO is not going to re-sign Jason Richardson at end of this season so they can go after Marc Gasol. Suns did exactly the same thing when the signed Steve Nash away from the Mavericks and Mark Cuban.
Suns don't run their offense through the center position, but Gasol's ability to play defense, rebound and more importantly his excellent outlet passing skills (to Nash) wold put Phoenix back in the hunt for being a top Western Conference team. High BB IQ plus an offensive game to boot...........

Yeah, Gasol's going to be paid. There's a shortage con legit C's, so he will draw interest from many teams. If Noah or Horford went to FA, they probably would've get more money. In the end, they were in a good situation and negotiated a reasonable extension.
I think it is going to be similar with Gasol; if Memphis isn't in a playoff situation and/or the owner don't seem commited to improve the team; he might go to highest bidder. However, if you squeeze into the playoffs and the prospect for the future is good, he might accept first Memphis' offer (or at least, he won't accept to good offers from bad teams)

Well it is likely that the Raptors will offer Gasol the max and they have a young team with an abundance of Euro players.
No coming to make war......but Memphis has under achieved this year since i expected them to be playoff bound in the West.

Look, we heard all the same things about how the Grizz wouldn't be able to resign Rudy. Marc is as, if not more than, important to the Grizz's owner. He'll be resigned.

Considering the fact that the Grizz are prohibited from resigning Gasol until the summer, what do you mean?

By that I meant that don't have you to deal with Zach Randolph's contact extension first? I'm hearing max numbers being thrown out about Gasol, plus near-max dollars for Randolph. Plus 13.6 million for Gay. Thats a lot of moolah to shell out for 3 players that so far have produced just 8 wins this season.
Peace.

Marc takes precedent over Zach and OJ. That's why Zach hasn't been extended yet, even though the Grizz had the window to do so.

The fact that he doesn't have an extension is one way to "deal with" it, right? Zbo wants near-max dollars, and the Grizz want something in the neighborhood of 12mill. If they don't agree, then Zbo's been dealt with at this point, right?

Reports out of phx is that the Suns are willing to offer a 5 years worth 65 to 75 mil for Gasol services with the contract heavy loaded in the first 2 years..
Personally, I would love to have Arthur before Gasol.. That's my preferences

Link to said reports? Not that I don't believe you, just that it'd be an interesting read.
