Mayo to be traded next week?

In a separate matter, Memphis Grizzles guard O.J. Mayo could be on the move soon, and a source close to his family thinks he could end up with the Knicks.
“They’re gonna move him next week and I think he’s gonna end up in New York,” the source said.
D’Antoni appears to have lost faith in shooting guards Andy Rautins and Kelenna Azubuike. Rautins is completely out of the mix and D’Antoni has said he doesn’t think Azubuike has recovered sufficiently from his knee surgery to contribute.
Still, a second source close to the Knicks said he thought the Mayo acquisition was unlikely.
“I don’t think we’re gonna get him,” the second source said. “We’re playing so good, you really don’t want to mess with it. You don’t want to tinker with it too much.”
http://www.zagsblog.com/2010/12/11/rand ... -the-move/Yeah, trade Mayo while his value is as low as it's ever going to be. Way to go, Grizz.
If they trade Mayo for anything on the Knicks roster, I will be sick, especially when I see Mayo dropping 30 on a regular basis in D'Antoni''s system.
What they need to do is package Mayo with Randolph's expiring and try to get a star. But that's something that real NBA franchises would do. We're nice and comfy in the bush league.

I'm fairly certain that's a piece attributed to "poopsworld". 'Nuff said.

Trading Mayo now would not make us a better team. Trading Mayo this offseason and packaging him with Thabeet would make us a better team.
If we need to trade someone right now it has to be Randolph as we would be able to get a mix of veterans and young pieces that would add depth and much needed experience. The offense is no longer going inside first with Rudy and Conley taking shots at will. Moving Randolph would also allow Gasol to be the first low post option which would not be that bad since he is a better passer out of the post.
This summer Mayo & Thabeet to Atlanta for Josh Smith.
Right now Zach Randolph to Orlando for Marcin Gortat, Brandon Bass, JJ Redick 12/15 move. Other considerations would have to be included to make it work.
These are just possibles moves that I would not hate and pretty good long term. IMO

Why would this interest Atlanta? We have depth at the 2, not the 4, and Atlanta won't trade it's most popular player. I'm personally all for trading Josh Smith, but it depends on the package, and isn't appealing.
As a Hawk fan, I can see a pack involving Joe Johnson, if your ownership is willing to take on his newly signed contract. The Hawk's ownership won't pay the luxury tax and other areas on the team need to be upgraded, but Joe's contract is possibly going to hold that up. I'd like to have OJ Mayo at the 2, but it's going to be difficult to make the salary work if Joe's involved.

anyone interested in Anthony randolph? He hasn't worked out in Dantoni's system and he's raw as hell but he has a lot of talent and he can fill up the boxscore when he gets minutes. He's kinda like a young Josh Smith, tremendous shotblocker and rebounder but shot selection leaves alot to be desired. J-Smoove didn't become a great fg% shooter until his 4th year when he stopped taking 3-pointers.
If Anthony randolph's ceiling is only Tyrus Thomas with better rebounding then that means he'll be a double double guy with two blocks per game which is very good. But i think his ceiling is higher than that.

At this point, I'd do a Magic Randolph for OJ trade. Not sure how you'd swing something like that considering salaries, but I'm pretty much done with the idea of OJ being a valuable member on this team. If things turn around dramatically for OJ (and how he's used by Hollins), that would be great. But his production and defense off the bench have just not been good.
Randolph's cheap, plays a position of need for Memphis and still has some "upside."
Plus he's a lefty which seems to be what Hollins looks for in a starter.

Randolph couldn't produce for Don Nelson or Mike D'antoni, he's just not good

What would you guys think of a trade for OJ centered around CJ Miles? I think he would be a great fit in Utah next to Deron Williams. What do you think?

Miles seems like a nice player but I'm not sure Memphis needs any more wing types right now.

On the Knicks board there's a mention of the Grizzlies possibly being part of a three way trade with Denver, obviously with Melo, and it includes more than just Mayo.
It all seems way too far fetched since I don't see signs of a panic move by Heisley.

I'm a Magic fan and would love Mayo on our team. Would you guys think Bass and Redick for Mayo and Thabeet (and maybe a 2nd rounder) is fair?

1. We have alot of good players that will help you guys.
2. Our system won't make Mayo drop 30 unless he turns into Kobe overnight. I don't think he has a good 3 point shot yet.

Jump shots are only the smallest problem Randolph has. Randolph requires a brain. Smith had one.

Don't judge Mayo based on his play under Lionel Hollins. He was playing like an all-star his rookie year, but when Lionel took over, he completely screwed Mayo up.

Can't wait until he's traded. With him gone, I can be done with the Grizzlies.
A Mayo Knick jersey would be pretty awesome, but if they acquire him, it's probably to land Melo.

Nothing personal 360 - not directed at you - but the one positive to OJ moving on, in and when he goes, will be the exodus of his fanbois. Good riddance to them, one and all.

Gotta love the shameless player-fans.
Or hate them.

If Mayo is traded what would Memphis be looking for in return?

Your first round pick prolly.

ugh, our first round pick? ... that would really suck. I think Mayo's a great player. I loved watching him in his USC days. If we did trade for him it would have to involve one of our big men. (Most likely Landry)

Thompson would be a possibility, but Landry for OJ? No thanks.
