Kudos to Gary Parrish for the thread title.

Grizzlies teammates O.J. Mayo and Tony Allen were involved in a fight with each other on the flight home from Los Angeles after Sunday night's win over the Lakers, three different sources have told CBSSports.com. Two of those sources said the altercation left Mayo with a noticeably "swollen" face.

Mayo did not play in Tuesday night's 110-105 win over Oklahoma City.

Grizzlies officials announced before tipoff that Mayo was not at FedExForum and that he would not participate in the game because of "bronchitis."

Apparently it was over some debt.

After a card game gone awry, Memphis Grizzlies teammates O.J. Mayo(notes) and Tony Allen(notes) had to be separated during a physical encounter on the team’s charter flight Monday, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Mayo owed Allen money from a card game, “Boo-Ray,” and sources said Mayo became increasingly belligerent and antagonistic toward Allen when asked to settle the debt. Sources said Allen walked away from Mayo to go the restroom and returned to find Mayo continuing to berate him. Eventually, Mayo inched close to Allen, and sources said Allen hit Mayo.

“Tony warned [Mayo] to watch his mouth, and [Mayo] wouldn’t do it and just kept going off on him,” a source with knowledge of the incident told Yahoo! Sports.

It seems like Allen took Mayo's spot in the rotation when Mayo didnt want to pay the money owed.

Whatever took place didn't appear to diminish Tony Allen in his teamates eyes. The bench looked pretty pumped when he hit that three pointer and had that block down the stretch.

I guess boys will be boys, and without being there it might not be fair to pass judgement. But Allen seems like an old school player, and I imagine if someone owes you money, won't pay, and then continually keeps arguing, you settle matters like a man i.e: let him have it.

Maybe Tony Allen was just showing his leadership skills, like Charles Oakley would  .

Hopefully the only thing OJ shares with Arenas is his metaphorical gun-slinging.
I'm curious about the dollar amount though.

Amount of money owed? According to Tillery it was between $1000 and $1500.

In other words chump change?
OJ must have felt quite upset and disrespected to handle it the way he allegedly did. And Allen...I kind of already had the feeling you don't f*ck with him.

I also think part of the issue is that OJ has always been the man and gotten to do/say whatever he wanted to - pretty much since grade school. He just ran into someone that doesn't buy into that.

Another funny thing is that Allen hit him about 5 times (reportedly) before it was broken up. Hmmm - a little hesitation there? Just sayin'...

That's such an understatement. OJ owned the court during that type. not just because he was a rare talents, but literally owned the court. I remember this incident, there was a scuffle between OJ's team and the other team. OJ walked to the opponents teams bench as they were saying something. About 5 of their bench players all were taking steps back as OJ was walking towards them. At least 2 of them were taller and bigger than Mayo.

If that isn't owning the court I don''t know what is.

That being said, OJ is gangsta

OJ Mayo's assists cure cancer. Too bad he has never passes. Also, OJ Mayo does not play NBA games because the word playing infers the probability of failure. OJ Mayo goes winning. OJ Mayo doesn't start games, he finished them. OJ Mayo scored infinity points, twice.

I saw a quote where one NBA executive said Tony Allen is one of the few people in the NBA he would recommend not to F$%K with. That's kind of interesting. I wonder if he is just a scrapper or has some boxing training. I can tell you the one guy I wouldn't mess with in the NBA is DJ Mbenga. Not only is he 7' tall but he's also a black belt in judo. I study judo and I can tell you that you would not want a 7 footer throwing you onto the ground. I also heard Steve Blake, of all people, trains MMA. Neither here nor there but I didn't know Allen was such a bad a$$.

He had a black eye tonight, but honestly I expected worse given the five punches landed report.
