Grizz, Z-Bo agree to extension

Let's see: Grizz get their first playoff win in franchise history, Z-Bo get his well-deserved payday, and Shane Battier has a new baby, all in one day. Good as it gets.

CA has updated to include what Broussard is reporting for ESPN, years with $66 million guaranteed with a possible total of $71 million. Fourth year is a player option.

Yep, just caught that.

Oh well, we still locked him up. Can't complain about that.

Resign Marc and Battier and we´re legitimate contenders.

This team has a good mix of young talent with veteran leaders. Let's see if the FO can keep it together for the foreseeable future.

What does this mean for Marc? Will the Grizz keep him?

So then the Grizzles core going forward looks something like...

PG: Mike Conley
SG: Tony Allen
SF: Rudy Gay
PF: Zach Randolph
C: Marc Gasol (pending him resigning)

Shane Battier (hopefully they can resign him to like a 3 year, 12-15 mil deal or something)
Darrell Arthur (this guys has been great, but he's def gonna demand more money in 2 years)
Sam Young

Trade Mayo this off-season for a picks/a back up center?
Draft a point guard?

Can't wait to see how it plays out... go Grizz!!

before the injury to Gay, either Sam Young or Xavier Hnery started at SG. Tony Allen was part of the bench crew. I'm not sure he's got that starting position locked for next season. We could use his spark off the bench if OJ Mayo is sent packing for sure.

Can you guys afford Gasol ? He's going to get a lot of interest, and probably 9-10 mill per, may be more.

3 posts (not pages) up. Same page. There's only one page, so I don't think walls of text are an issue. Three, north of this one.

According to @geoff_calkins (Memphis columnist) Twitter

zach randolph said he re-signed with the gizzlies because they told him they would keep marc gasol.

Sounds like a plan. As for TA keeping his starting spot, I think it's neccessary. He'll be like what Bruce Bowen and Thabo Sefolosha were to their respective teams. Solid defensive presence who draws the opponent's best player and force him to work for his shots.

Moving Mayo creates a big void at the SG spot. Henry may not be able to fill that spot.

Getting Henry and Gay back next year, so really vault this team into the elite, assuming Gasol is resigned.

Losing Gay created a pretty big void at the SF spot too, but the Grizzles took it in stride amazingly well. Losing arguably your best player mid-season is never a good thing, but considering how well the Grizz handled it, I can't see losing Mayo during the off-season to be that detrimental. They'll find someone to fill the void
