AS a wolves fans and division rivals i must admit the grizzlies roster is one the deepest rosters throughout the nba keep up the good work.

This is post is just regarding the status of O.J Mayo. I personally am still a believer in Oj abilities however with tony allen , Xavier Henry and Josh Selby where does he fit within the roster and is O.J still on the trading block? what do the wolves need to offer to acquire the USC alum?

Check the official trades thread. You'll get a pretty broad range of opinions on OJ but it's all pretty fair.

I think we will hold onto him until a trade comes along that knocks our socks off

I think he gets moved at the trade deadline. Unfortunately, he seems to be the oddman out solely because he was/is the last of our core to come up for an extension.

With OJ it is a size issue that the organization tried to deal with early in the season by giving every alternative a try at the shooting guard position and OJ also self destructing professionally due to all the drama. OJ wants to play a lead guard role that is not available in Memphis with Conley signed long term. Giving OJ an extension no longer makes sense given the cheaper options available and their ability to play better devensively given their size. There does not seem like a lot of time at the start of the current season to pursue a really good deal so my guess would be that he is moved at the trading deadline.

Hey, I'm from the Magic board and always liked Mayo. Would absorbing Mayo's final year w/ our TPE be an attractive offer? I'm not all sure about the Grizzlies cap situation, but I know for sure you guys are looking to retain Gasol. Clearing Mayo's contract isn't a lot I know, but would it go towards helping yall keep Marc? Hope to hear some feedback from the fans and thanks.

Celtics fan here. There have been some rumors floating around that the Celtics plan on sign and trading Glen Davis and O.J. Mayo is a player that some of our board members would love to get in return. Do you think the Grizzlies would do a trade of Glen Davis/Pick for O.J. Mayo?

We already know how the Tony Allen signing worked out for your team and perhaps adding our sixth man to your team would let you take the next step in becoming champions.

Rumor is that Utah is looking to move Millsap (twitter John Hollinger - I'm also hearing Millsap is available). I'd rather move OJ for Millsap than Davis, personally.

Agreed. Memphis is looking for an athletic and/or versatile big to compliment Marc and Z-Bo. Davis provides neither, and I don't think he's worth Mayo. Grizz should be looking at acquiring Millsap, Landry, or McRoberts.

Damn, it's awesome to be back and talking about basketball.

I think the Grizz will consider the Eastern Conference options above trading within the conference unless the Western Conf team deal is vastly superior. Glen Davis has maturity issues that the Boston Big three struggled to keep in check. The Grizz is composed of mainly mild mannered types so a big personality can run amuck before being properly checked so Big Baby may not be the best fit.

Although I would love Milsap I think the organization is very high on Darrel Arthur that acquiring a non center is not fufilling a need and making the second unit too short defensively.

glad to hear a Milsap-Mayo trade rumor. Milsap is no scrub in talent, he not close to OJ Mayo talent level, but he is a proven player off the bench. Mayo goes to a team where he can be " THE MAN" and shot jack up 20 shots a game, and get his stats.

Its shocking to see this deal not already made yet if it is truely in discussion between both parties.

To be clear there have been NO reports of Millsap for OJ. There HAVE been reports that the Jazz are looking to move Millsap and/or Jefferson. However, they realize that Millsap will be MUCH easier to move. I was simply putting 1 + 1 together to illustrate what, IMO, OJ could be moved for.

LilOJ and I actually pretty much agree on the value for need level in the deal. OJ would get to be the man and Millsap would fill a perfect need for the Grizz.

I am NOT on board for moving OJ for table scraps or moving him for the sake of. OJ makes the Grizz better - especially illustrated during the playoffs. However, with the contract situation, if you can fill another need by moving him, wing is where the Grizz have depth.

What would you guys think about a trade with the Cavs for Mayo involving Varejao?

I'm a huge AV fan, so I'm probably not the best person to ask, but OJ & Ish (who could be immediately waived) for AV.

That would be excellent for our depth at the 4/5. That Varejao contract is a little rich though, especially looking down the road a few years when we're carrying Gay and GaZBo's contracts and trying to retain Darrell. Why the hell did Thabeet have to fail so hard? :(
Then again, picking up AV could definitely be worth it.

I think the trade would be a win-win for both franchises.

AV would give some nice depth and versatility at the 4/5 and while his contract hovers around 8 mil, you get much better value from his play than a lot of players in the league making much, much more.

I think OJ would flourish under Byron Scott playing next to Irving.

Bulls fan here.

What IF you guys lose Gasol via FA. Would you like this offer from the Bulls:

Omer Asik
Kyle Korver
Bulls 2012 1st Round

for

OJ Mayo

Gives the Bulls a starting SG. Gives the Griz a young starting C, a shooter of the bench that can play 2 or 3, and an additional [late] 1st. I don't think it'll matter, because I don't see Gasol leaving.

Just not an fan of the Bulls deal. OJ would fit nicely in Chicago - but the Bulls and Grizz just don't match up well for trading purposes.

What about Mickeal Pietrus and the rights to Aaron Brooks for OJ Mayo and Ishmael Smith.
