The History and Rivalry

We all know what happened last year. We simply were beaten psychologically and physically. The Clips managed to outdue the Grizzlies with their own version of the Grit-N-Grind style. Although the series was extremely well fought, the Grizzlies managed to allow crucial mistakes to take them out of the series and out of the playoffs on last year.

This year must be different. Changes were made by both teams. Some new faces have appear, old faces remain the same and so does the bitter rivalry these two teams have for each other. The Grizzlies not only have to deal with the Clippers once again, they have to deal with the naysayers who believe the Grizzlies will s**t bricks against the Clippers. They have to deal with demons within and find ways to exorcise the Clippers demons once and for all if they wish to put all doubts to bed and take care of business.

Last year, the Clips took game 1 from us and the series. This year, the Grizzlies will be the road warriors and must do what they have to do and take game 1 from L.A. and get off to a strong start. This series just last last year will be hard fought and will gain the most attention under the national lights. Whoever wins this series, will not only prove capable of overcoming their obstacles, they will prove they have what it takes to take on the best the NBA has to offer.

Surveying the media's assessment of this matchup, it looks like we're in the comfortable role of underdog as nearly everybody has predicted the Clips will win this series. Let's get this series going like it's 2011 and steal the series opener on the road.

Underdog. Steal game one and take each game as if it is game7, no reason we can't close this in 4 games

It's understandable given last season's implosion and defeat to this exact team. (in addition to them beating us in the head to head during the regular season)

I think we give them a much tougher series this year. I think we'll come out of the gates strong.

The best way to look at this series to me is redemption. To redeem themselves from the crucial mistakes they made against the Clippers last year. The Grizzlies have this second chance opportunity in their hands. Will they do what's necessary to give the Clippers hell and win this series? I hope to God yeah!

so far we have seen it is the refs + clippers against Grizz. we have a huge hill to climb. this is hard to win when the deck is stacked against you. I have to remember this is just entertainment. It's not a fair game

JB got caught on Butler and CB4 made him pay. Gotta play smarter on defense here.

This team is out of focus right now. They have to stop making these basic mistakes and readjust their strategy and STOP FOULING!

Tough call on Conley. These fouls are starting to rack up. Gotta scale back from them.

Only down 6pts. Not too bad considering the refs playing for the Clips tonight. The Grizz have to do a better job exploiting matchups in their favor. Boxing out the Clips is an issue for the Grizz. That needs to change real fast. Third, the fouls are not helping inspite just being down 6pts. Better man to man defense is a must.

We have to step up and make some adjustments. Playing sloppy in the rebounding catagory by not boxing out will not cut it in this series. Neither will getting in foul trouble early on and struggling to get offensive production from the starters. The refs didn't help much but this series will be long and difficult. Learn from tonight's mistakes and come out swingin on Monday night.

I thought Coach Hollins did not do anything before playoff. Bad matchup especially Conley-Paul.

Terrible game due in large part to terrible effort. We have to shore up the (defensive) rebounding for the next game and try to stay out of foul trouble - which is tough to do against the Clippers

Return to Memphis Grizzlies
