Our bigs must crush theirs. I expect huge games by Marc and Zach. Any news on the stomach virus?

from ESPN

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Seven members of the Memphis Grizzlies now are dealing with a stomach virus, and their status is uncertain for Friday's game with the Boston Celtics.

The Grizzlies announced Thursday that guards Tony Allen, Courtney Lee and Beno Udrih, forwards Jon Leuer and Jarnell Stokes, center Kosta Koufos and guard/forward Quincy Pondexter all are ill and are questionable for the Boston game.

Pondexter and Stokes are new additions to the injury list. The other five Grizzlies didn't play in a 96-92 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday due to the virus that kept them away from the arena.

The Grizzlies also waived guard Kalin Lucas and center Hassan Whiteside on Thursday, a day after signing them for protection in Toronto.

Really annoying about Lucas and Whiteside. Wish they could've kept them. Absolutely bizarre circumstances here with this virus. We likely can still dominate them inside and I believe that interior D will be key in this one. Also, Conley's ability to contain will be pivotal. We can outscore them.

Odds are it was something they ate in Memphis. Food contaminated by feces.

Symptoms come on slowly
Diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach pain don't hit you immediately after you're infected with a gastrointestinal virus, but typically develop gradually, over one or two days, Dr. Madanick explains.

But other types of food poisoning can strike fast and hard—within a few hours after you're exposed to the offending substance—and symptoms tend to be more dramatic, such as explosive vomiting and diarrhea.

Stomach flu spreads via the "fecal-oral route," which is just as gross as it sounds. Basically, viruses from infected feces or vomit find their way into our mouths. Very diligent hand washing is your best defense, according to Dr. Rogg.

Wash carefully if you're changing diapers or cleaning up after a sick child, and grown-ups in the household should clean up after themselves if they can, advises Ryan Madanick, MD, a gastroenterologist and assistant professor of medicine at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, N.C.

If Joerger is OK with that, I can suit up and complete the roster.

Sucks they waived whiteside, i would've loved for him to get 10-15 minutes to see if he can be a rim protector and finisher for short stretches. Not to mention it looks like we won't have a backup big.

So basically we'll probably have conley, pon, prince, zbo, gasol, carter, adams. I hope joerger brings prince of the bench, i can't picture carter or adams being the backup big. Coach will have a bit of a challenge juggling minutes, we'll need one of zbo/gasol on the floor at all times imo. At least none of the celtics bigs are offensive juggernauts afaik so that's a positive. I think we still have a good chance but everybody will have to be at the top of their game and stay out of foul trouble. Let's hope they can escape with the win because every single game matters in the loaded western conference.

I had food poisoning once, well 3 or 4 times, but one time pretty serious. I'll spare you the gory details but basically it started after about an hour (damn doner kebab) and i spend the next 8 hours in the bathroom. At one point during those 8 hours i thought it was over and took one tiny sip of water, next thing i know i'm hurling at least 1 liter of clear water which i have no idea where it came from. It lasted about ten days and i had lost over 15lbs by the time it was over. Unsurprisingly the kebab place was shut down a while later, which was bittersweet since it was my favorite place but obviously they did gave me at least two different bacteria in my meal so i'm not sure i would've kept going anyway.

It's quite an experience. At it's peak i thought i was going to choke, barely had time to breathe. Let's hope they have a milder version or they'll miss a couple more games, then again they probably have better treatment available as opposed to the common folk so it might not take as long to recover.

PS: my apologies for posting this random anecdote, i'm just wasting time waiting for the game to start. Here's the different types of food poisoning if anyone cares. http://www.fda.gov/food/resourcesforyou/consumers/ucm103263.htm. Looks like i had "Staphylococcus aureus" and probably plain old e.coli :(

If he keeps it up, he should get first nod at All-Star starting center over D-12 this coming February.
