According to Marc Stein.

I make that trade yesterday if I'm running the Grizz.

So an undersized and inefficient chucker who's a bad defender for (possibly) the best backup center in the league? No thanks.

Yeah, I would have to pass as well as one of the last things we need is another guard especially if that dude is not an All-Star. I do believe the Cav's want to trade Dion Waiters but he is not a good fit here. If the Grizz do move Kostas it will be for either someone on a rookie deal Gorgui Dieng (Minesota) or a Cody Zeller (Charlotte) type whom they have financial control on for a few years. Everyone understands Koufus will be out of our reach this summer as we can't afford an 8 - 10 million backup Center.

Not bad but waiters would need to go to a 3rd team and the grzz should try to get Haywood or their pick back somehow.

Suprised to see such a strong statement about a guy that's playing less minutes per game than Jon Leuer.

Cavaliers fan here, just visiting because I was interested in seeing how this rumor was being viewed.

I'd be suprised if the Cavaliers pick or Haywood's sweatheart deal were included for Kofos. The return just isn't there. As you all know Koufas can walk at the end of the year.

Waiters seems like a pretty good addition for the Grizzlies. He's not undersized for a SG and his efficiency last year was good. The transition this year has been tough. I think that's part ego and part wild inconsistency with what he's being asked to do.

If Waiters is heading out, their needs to be a wing coming back. I'd be looking at Koufos & Pondexter (who may be an extension they regret) for Waiters and Amudson (who can't be traded until 12/26) as the starting point.

Kk plays one less min than leuer .guess what mem needs if kk & q are sent out? A sf and C which they don't get in this deal.

Hate to play this card, but it appears that Kyle O'Quinn of the Magic is holding that title.

Even before Vuvecic went down with back spasms, O'Quinn has been playing well into his role as backup and has been improving a bit.

As for this whole KK to Cavs for Waiters, the Grizzlies don't need another SG. They have three already 2 vets, 1 rookie, techinally 4 SG if you throw in Vince. The only Waiters I want to see in Memphis are the ones working in restaurants.

You could be right, i should've said "one of the best" anyway. His stats are definitely very impressive, as far as his game i really wouldn't know since i simply haven't seen him play all that much. I just like koufos more as a player because he adds in great size (along with his skillset and mobility) which is invaluable in the nba, especially in the west.

And i agree, we really don't need another shooting guard.

The only reason he doesn't play more minutes is because he's stuck behind the best (top 3 at worst) center in the league and neither marc or he himself can play pf. It's not an indication that the team doesn't need him though, he's a crucial part imo. Not to mention the grizzlies would be royally screwed without him if marc were to get injured at some point.

And yes, i'd say waiters is undersized. He has the same height and standing reach as monta ellis according to pre-draft measurements. Monta gets away with it thanks to his elite athleticism. However waiters has nowhere near that kind of blazing speed and quickness, don't get me wrong he's a good athlete but imo not good enough to overcome his lack of size.

Also, 51% TS and 12.3 TOV% might not be horrible but i wouldn't exactly call it good efficiency either.

I don't mean to bash waiters, i'm just not a fan. Either way, like SD said, we really don't need another sg.

horrible trade imo, waiters is too much of a polar player and a headcase.

This is a fair trade imo.

DEN OUT:
Hickson
Chandler

MEM OUT:
Adams
Prince
Koufus
Q-pon

CAVS OUT:
Harris
Waiters
Kirk

DEN IN:
Waiters
Prince

MEM IN:
Harris
Chandler
Hickson
Alex Kirk

CAVS IN:
Koufus
Adams
Q-pon

Why?

Denver gets cap in the offseason as well as a young wing player in waiters, and this frees up space in the rotation to give nurkic much deserved minutes

Cavs gets a defending center in koufus and a rookie wing back in adams and a 3-D guy in Q-pon who is coming back to playing like he did a couple years back

Memphis gets the much needed glue to take them all the way, Hickson can stretch play the 5 and alternate minutes with stokes/Leur at the 5 man if needed , Chandler gives us a much needed 6th man (we need an obvious choice 6th man and a stretch 3/4 and this answers both our problems), Harris is prospect that could be a defensive guy who can also shoot 3s in the near future, and Kirk is a bench big

I come in peace.

Cavs give TPE and the Memphis pick back for Koufus.

Then, Memphis trades Prince and a future 1st for another SF (to the Celtics for Green for example).

Fair enough?

I've actually been hoping something like this goes down. I think Memphis ultimately stands pat, but the deal you proposed is definitely fair enough. I'd prefer our pick back over Waiters anyway - especially if they could flip it with less severe protections + Prince's expiring contract for a legitimate starting SF like Jeff Green.
