The Memphis Grizzlies today announced that guard Jordan Adams will undergo cartilage transplant surgery on his right knee today, Wednesday, June 15.

In August 2015, Adams underwent a lateral meniscectomy on his right knee after sustaining a partially torn meniscus during an off-season workout.

Sidelined for most of the summer and limited in training camp, Adams returned to play for a short period before suffering an unrelated injury to the articular cartilage in his right knee. Adams subsequently underwent a debridement surgery on January 12, 2016.

Following that surgery, Adams participated in a lengthy rehab program, extending through the second half of the 2015-16 season, in an effort to resume basketball activities.

On March 18, Adams told Grizzlies.com, “I have been working hard throughout my rehab process to get back and join my teammates on the court as soon as possible. I am trying to ramp up my cardio workouts as of late and hoping to get back to practice soon.” On March 25, it was announced Adams increased his daily activity, beginning on-court workouts.

At this point, I have three issues.

How much of Adams will be worth investing in after three surgeries?

Did the Grizzlies medical staff somehow missed something from the prior surgery with Adams?

Were the right therapies applied to help Adams heal from his surgeries?

In an earlier posts I advocated a change in our medical staff as there are simply too many misses when it comes to diagnosis of the players. We are having repeat issues and multiple surgeries not just on Jordan Adams, but also on Brandon Wright, and Mike Conley. So for an organization who has been snake bit before with Bryan Reeves and Michael Dickerson early retirements due to injury, can they afford to have this staff making the calls on both 100 million dollar investments when both are coming off of major injuries? I just don't think so.

As for Jordan Adams, I do wish him the best but I don't see how the Grizz pick up the option on his 17/18 yr so either he rebounds and plays well, or this could be a career ending at least in Memphis

I recalled some of your posts concerning the medical staff. I recalled when Marc required his own doctors see to his recent surgery on his foot rather than the Grizzlies medical staff, potential red flag arose on that. I can see if said player had issues with the same injury throughout his career like an Amare Stoudemire with his knees for instance. Jordan Adams never had a medical issue until well after he was drafted. Just two years into his career, he's working on his third surgery in the same knee? Like yourself, I think they dropped the ball somewhere and perhaps with Brendan Wright as well.
