With all due respect, does anyone in this forum think or feel like this? I mean, it is obvious that we may not be a contender (anymore), but if healthy, I believe we are one of the best of the non-contenders teams. arent we?

If Mr Parsons delivers as he is expected and the core Gasol-Zbo-Conley stays healthy (Healthy as in +70 games). I believe we are a top4 seed...

BTW, whats that that in NBA 2k17, the grizzs are rated 15º overall?

Like you said, health is the key and a major concern for the Grizzlies. Behind the veterans are mostly the younger generation looking to carve some opportunity and showcase their talents for this roster. GSW are still the threat. Now that KD has joined ranks with them, they are extremely a dangerous team more than ever. The Spurs minus TD still have the Grizzlies number and will look to make things more difficult for the Grizzlies in the upcoming season.

Even putting aside health concerns, which is impossible for you guys, you have like 4 guys who a good playoff team wants to start. Allen has been figured out by most teams in this new era and is basically a liability, Parsons wasn't exactly good for the Mavs last year. That leaves 3 guys, all old and somewhat injury prone. The bench has almost nothing in terms of ready NBA players, except I guess Green who I like (not sure if I'm forgetting someone... I guess Wright if he's healthy?). Only 8 teams can make the West playoffs and I feel like the Grizz might be a good bet to finally fall out. Certainly the team needs a painful rebuild in the next few years.

Some people think it's possible that the Grizzlies will fall out of the running if injuries become a factor like it did last season. As previously mentioned, the starters backups are younger and most recently starting their NBA careers. Against playoff teams, inexperienced players can become a liability for your squad. I get Fizdale's stance about winning a championship as he has two under his belt. However with this team and where they stand right now. The future looks cloudy to see a championship on the horizon for the Grizzlies.

I'm less worried about the Grizz winning a championship, which I don't think was ever really legitimately on the radar in the grit and grind era, and more concerned about how bad the rebuild is going to be in a few years. Just like players, sometimes teams fall off the ledge faster than anyone thinks. One day you're like "when did this happen?" and the team just isn't cutting it anymore. Then you look at the roster, with very little in the way of young talent (and some picks owed in the future) and you're wondering just how bad the repair job is going to be.

Have been one of the worst shooting teams for awhile.

But one of the best teams in forcing turnovers and getting extra possessions on the boards.

Pretty tough to turn around those trends right away.

Team's fortunes ultimately depend on Gasol and Parsons returning to their forms from a couple of seasons ago, after their injuries.

Team was on a good trajectory in the first half until the injuries snowballed so they should still be able to compete for a playoffs spot.

The main issue that still raises smoke is the history of injuries for some of the Grizzlies key players. If they can remain healthy most of the time, that would go a long way towards competing for the playoffs. If they goes wrong, like season, all they have are mostly young players with less then three years of experience as backups. Not a good combination.
