It's going to be painful to wait until this team figures itself out

After watching this game, it would seem that making the playoffs this year is not the lock most think it is.

I'm having that same issue myself. With the bridge gap experience between the vets and the young guys we have on the team now, this roster speaks volumes of a team being caught in between either making the playoffs or possibly rebuilding. One thing I will say, the Grizzlies will have problems defending against teams with up-tempo and athleticism on their roster.

We may not cruise to the 5 seed as expected, but I think it's pretty early to doubt our playoff hopes. Even though we have the same core as the grit and grind era, this is a completely different team top to bottom. Gasol has made as many 3's in 9 games as he has his entire career, Conley is playing more off the ball than he has before and has still upped his usage and efficiency, we are giving big minutes to combo-guards as something more than nominal backup PG, we have an injection of youth in both the starting lineup and bench that is at least holding its own, and despite all reason Carter is looking like our best wing player since prime Mike Miller. All of this and we've barely seen Parsons and Allen play. I think in another 10 games we should start to see what the team is capable of and hovering around .500 keeps us in the playoff hunt until then.
